Board taps Klutts as new Growth Alliance director

January 22, 2014

West Point and Clay County merchants and volunteers alike will be in close contact with the newly appointed Growth Alliance (GA) director.
The GA executive committee had its feet in the burners after December brought with it the dismissal of former director Cynthia Wilson, but after deliberation amongst its members, the board, according to Board Chairman Dwight Dyess, came to a unanimous agreement to cement Lisa Klutts’ position as director.
Since Wilson’s dismissal, Klutts has operated as the interim director for the organization, but also submitted a resume during the advertising phase.
Dyess said the board was on the lookout for a candidate that possessed “high energy, initiative, organization” and a strong background in finance.
“I think one of the big differences (between the candidates) was the fact that ... Lisa has worked with many of the programs at the Growth Alliance,” Dyess said. “She has a network of volunteers at the ready. She just understands how things work down there. Everybody recognized that.”
