From Team Reports
STARKVILLE,  – Mississippi State’s women’s tennis team (8-4, 1-3 SEC) takes a break from conference action Wednesday, when it travels to Miami, Fla., to take on Florida Gulf Coast University (5-7). First serve is slated for 2 p.m. CT.
The Lady Bulldogs enter Wednesday’s affair after a tough weekend in SEC play. MSU lost a pair of away matches to a strong LSU team last Friday, and 17th-ranked Arkansas on Sunday. It was State freshman Danielle Terpko who picked up the only win of the weekend with her triumph at the No. 6 court against LSU.

Wave moves on after cancellation
Wednesday, 17 March 2010
By Bryan Davis

It’s back to business as usual for the West Point Green Wave football team; running bleachers, lifting weights and preparing to defend their sixth state championship come August.
One week after head coach Chris Chambless announced that the Wave would be taking the show on the road to Georgia in week two of the 2010 season, the West Point has been informed that Rams of Grayson High School have dropped them from the schedule in favor of another team.
The West Point school board voted last week to approve the game.
“This was going to be a great opportunity for the guys,” Chambless said. “I know the team, the town and the coaching staff were all excited.”

Lady Bulldogs drop pair
Tuesday, 16 March 2010
From Team Reports
FRESNO, Calif. – Ka’ili Smith and Brittany Bell each homered as Mississippi State’s softball team dropped a 13-6 decision to Cal State Northridge Sunday afternoon in the Bayer Cropscience Classic. In the nightcap, Chelsea Bramlett went 2-for-3 and stole a school-record 41st-straight base as the Bulldogs fell 11-3 to host Fresno State.
The pair of losses dropped the Dawgs to 16-11 on the year.
Smith, who received all-tournament honors, went 2-for-3 and drove in two runs in the opener, hitting her third home run of the tournament and seventh of the season. Bell added her third home run of the campaign in a three-hit effort against Cal State Northridge. The Brandon, Fla., native also collected a hit and drove in a run in the day’s final game.
Bramlett, who had her hit streak ended at a career-long 23 games, stole three bases on the afternoon to pass Iyhia McMichael for the most consecutive stolen bases in school history.
Despite the offensive explosion from Smith, Bell and their Bulldog teammates, State was unable to overcome a strong start by Cal State Northridge in Sunday’s opening game.
State found itself in an early deficit following the opening inning. Jennifer Mosier led the game off with a base hit up the middle. After moving to third on a pair of ground-outs, she scored when clean-up hitter Jaci Carlsen doubled to the fence in left field.
Following a 26-minute delay caused by the sprinklers coming on in right field, Christina Saenz lined a shot off State starter Misty Flesher that put runners at first and third. Tracy Allen then cleared the bases as she lined a double to the gap in right-center, putting the Matadors up 3-0.
