Benjamin Thomas "Ben" Brashier Jr.
Benjamin Thomas "Ben" Brashier Jr., age 88, passed away, Sunday, Aug. 22, 2010, surrounded by his family at his daughterâs home in Roy, Utah. Mr. Brashier was born Feb. 27, 1922, in Shubuta, in Clark County to the late Margaret Clara Rigby and Benjamin Thomas Brashier Sr. Mr. Brashier worked in Poultry Research for the U.S.D.A. for 20 years. He was a faithful member of the First United Methodist Church where he was usher for six years as well as participating in other church functions. Benjamin Thomas "Ben" Brashier Jr., married Ima Jeanette Cade Brashier on May 6, 1951, in Jackson. He was a veteran of the United States Navy during WW II, serving in the Pacific under Fleet Admiral Chester William Nimitz as a ship's cook. During that time he had the honor of working Escort Duty for a U.S.O. show featuring entertainers Bob Hope and Betty Hutton. Following his war service he served in the United States Naval Reserves for 27 years. Then joining the National Guard from 1972 until 1982 retiring as Sergeant First Class (E-7) when he was awarded the Magnolia medal from the Army National Guard upon his retirement. He was a member of the American Legion Neyman Post No. 37 where he was Commander in 2006. He had the opportunity to participate as a prizewinner on the television game show âThe Price is Rightâ in 1992.
Funeral services are today, Sunday, Aug. 29, 2010, at 3 p.m. from Calvert Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Jeff Shannon officiating. Burial will follow in Columbus Memorial Gardens.

Survivors include his wife, Jeanette Cade Brashier of West Point; three daughters: Sue Brashier Rushing (Buddy) of West Point, Brenda Brashier of Orem, Utah, Cathy Brashier Rogers (Wallace) of Roy, Utah; one son, Larry Brashier (Beverly) of Caledonia; 11
grandchildren: Gina Bateman, Jason Rushing, Nathan Rushing, Aaron Brashier, Benjamin Brashier, Elizabeth Brashier, Amanda Rogers, Micah Rogers, Devan Rogers, Alexander Rogers, Abigail Rogers; four great grandchildren: Dustin Bateman, Jimmie Bateman, Jessi Bateman, Nathan Rushing, Jr.; Mr. Brashier was preceded in death by one son, Benny Joe Brashier, a grandchild, Christopher Parker Rogers; three brothers and three sisters.
Pallbearers are Benjamin Brashier, Aaron Brashier, Jason Rushing and Wallace Rogers.
Honorary pallbearers are Dr. Andrzej Wartak, Sonny Jameson, J. W. Cantrell, Walter Newell, Walter Nichols, J. C. Johnson and John Johnson.
