Ben Prentiss Lester

Ben Prentiss Lester, husband of former West Point resident, Carolyn Brewster, passed away in their home in Palm Desert, Calif. joining the Lord Wednesday, July 2, 2014.
Ben was born to Lionel and Eleanor Prentiss Lester in 1929. He graduated from Yazoo City High School in 1947 and served in the infantry as well as serving our country in Korea and was honorably discharged as a sergeant in 1951. He entered the travel business in Memphis, Tenn, and subsequently served as President of Holiday Inn Travel Division. He resigned to open his own travel agency and continued in the travel business along with his wife, Carolyn, whom he married in 1977. In 1985 they moved to Sedona, Ariz. where they worked in the hospitality business as resort managers. In 1995 they joined the investment firm of Morgan Stanley in Plano, Texas and retiring in 2003, moved to Palm Desert, Calif.
In addition to his wife, Ben leaves five daughters: Leslie Kazen of Chesterfield, Mo., Christy Byrne of Plano, Texas, Ashley Lester of Male, Maldives, Brennan Lester of Memphis, Tenn., Kate Hendricks, Sedona, Ariz; one son, Ben Lester II of Memphis, Tenn.; and one granddaughter, Rachel Kazen.
Ben was an Alumni and avid lifetime supporter of the Ole Miss Rebels, having seen his first Rebel game in Nov. 1938. He was a life-long Episcopalian and a strong supporter of St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. Memorials to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Place, Memphis, TN 38105 are appreciated. We thank our Lord that Ben is now safely in His arms.
