Barbara Wilcomb Richardson
Barbara Wilcomb Richardson, age 89, passed away Wednesday, Dec. 1, 2010, at her home in West Point.
Barbara Wilcomb Richardson was born Dec. 10, 1920, in St. Johnsbury, Vermont, to the late Mildred Frazier and Archibald Daniel Wilcomb. Mrs. Richardson graduated from St. Johnsbury Academy. She attended the University of Vermont and received a degree in home economics. She also obtained and advanced degree from the New Your Institute of Dietetics.
Mrs. Richardson married the late Judson Cromwell Richardson Jr. of Leominister, Mass. on Nov. 11, 1944.
Mrs. Richardson moved to West Point and became an active member of the First Presbyterian Church, EPC, where she served as Sunday School Superintendent. She was also a member and officer of the Hospital Auxiliary. Mrs. Richardson enjoyed playing bridge with her many friends.
Funeral services are Friday, Dec. 3, 2010, at 2 p.m. from the First Presbyterian Church, with visitation an hour before the service. The Rev. Stephen Davis will officiate. Burial will follow in Greenwood Cemetery.
Robinson Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Mrs. Richardson is preceded in death by her husband, Col. Judson C. Richardson Jr., USMC retired. She is survived by one son, Judson C. Richardson III (Carolyn) of Hendersonville, N.C.; and one daughter, Susan R. Portera (Joe) of West Point; She leaves behind four grandchildren: Lori DeGeus (Tim) of Raleigh, N.C., Brian Portera (Jennifer) of Starkville, Stephanie Bristow (Vance), Cynthia Lyon (Gil) both of West Point; and eight great-grandchildren. She also leaves four nieces and one nephew.
Pallbearers are the Church Elders. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the First Presbyterian Church, EPC, or the charity of your choice.
