Hebron Christian senior Troy Arnold and Oak Hill senior Joseph Caskey have prepped for the MAIS All-Star Football Game at 4 p.m. today in Robinson-Hale Stadium on the campus of Mississippi College in Clinton.
After both had outstanding seasons for their respective teams – both squads making the postseason, Arnold and Caskey joined forces on Tuesday as members of the MAIS North All-Stars for a three-day training camp in the Jackson metro-area to get ready for one last game as high students.
Caskey called the opportunity to represent his school, football program and District 2-AA an honor that he has relished in recent weeks.
“I am extremely honored that they have accepted me for this honor,” Caskey said. “It is definitely going to be a fun experience.
“Everyone is going to be good when I am down there,” Caskey added. “There won't be any mediocre players. Everybody is going to want to play and have great talent. It will put you to the test.”
Arnold is also excited to snap his chinstrap on for a final time to compete as a high schooler on Friday.
“It's something different, but I am excited about this,” Arnold said. “If you're a competitor, this will let you know how you stack up against the best of the best. I am looking forward to it.”
Caskey wrapped up a great career as a Raider with 55 total tackles, three sacks for a team-high loss of 27 yards and one forced fumble. The defensive lineman also carried a game-winning 31-yard rushing touchdown to defeat rival Winston Academy, 20-15, on Sept. 11 in West Point.
Including a District 2-AA first team recognition in his junior season, Caskey is hoping that his individual efforts along with his senior class leave a lasting benchmark on future Oak Hill Raiders.
