Absentee ballots arrive for Special Election

Absentee ballots for the Senate District 16 Special Election arrived Thursday to the Clay County Circuit Clerk’s Office, and absentee voting will open Wednesday and be open for the next two weeks.
Senate District16 absentee ballots, which will bear the names of Clay County candidates Kenny Fowler and Angela Turner-Lairy, have been reviewed, signed by the Clay County Election Commission and approved by the Mississippi Secretary of State’s Office.
Registered Clay County voters who will not be able to cast their vote Jan. 15 can request an absentee ballot from the Circuit Clerk’s Office, and the deadline to vote absentee is Saturday, Jan. 12. The Circuit Clerk’s Office will be open for absentee voting during normal business hours Monday through Friday and will open Saturday, Jan. 5 and Saturday, Jan. 12 from 8 a.m. until noon.
