The 31st annual rodeo to benefit Clay County 4-H will be Aug. 18-19 beginning at 7:30 p.m. nightly.

Rodeo sponsor Luke Lummus said the rodeo will cost $5 for anyone under 12-years-old and $10 for anyone over 12.

He said the funds raised will go toward Clay County 4-H.

“We were able to raise $2,500 last year,” Lummus said. “We hope and pray we can do that or even better this year.”

He said winners could win up to $1,000.

Lummus said the rodeo will feature bull riding, bronco riding, barrel racing, calf roping, steer roping and team roping.

To enter the event, contact Lummus from 9 a.m. until 3 p.m. on Monday.

He said there would also be a chicken scramble, pig scramble and calf scramble for kids to participate in, and a goal rush will be for children ages 3-5.

“It is family fun for grandma all the way down to the kids,” he said.

Lummus said this rodeo was part of the American Cowboy Association, and winners would be able to go on to compete in regional and national levels.
