Some 23 Clay Countians entered the ranks of those earning the equivalence of a high school education last week.
Jim Bearden, director of adult basic education at East Mississippi Community College’s Golden Triangle campus said testing centers had kicked into overdrive in the last two weeks, flooded with those looking to complete the last of their requirements to earn General Education Diplomas. GED testing will undergo a dramatic overhaul beginning in January, in which all areas will shift to a completely computerized testing format in line with new Common Core standards.
That isn’t the only change, however. Those whom haven’t completed all areas of testing prior to the change will have to start from square one, as sections already completed will no longer be applicable.
