Lady Raiders rebound at home after road loss to Leake

Oak Hill Academy split in a pair of district games this past weekend against Leake Academy and Manchester Academy. The Lady Raiders and Lady Rebels, two teams that will undoubtedly face off in the district championship come February, were neck and neck after a very competitive first quarter that favored Leake 16-10. As the game got scrappy and the pace was slowed down, the Lady Rebels barely spread the lead out to make it a 28-19 game at halftime.

West Point outlasts physical Louisville 73-55

December 15, 2012

Head Coach Brad Cox and his Green Wave basketball team traveled to Louisville to take on a very challenging Wildcat club.
In a tight affair, West Point had a difficult time finding a definitive lead until the end of the third quarter. The Green Wave’s depth proved to be the key factor to their success as West Point closed out the game with a bang and a 73-55 victory.
“We knew it would be an all four-quarter type game,” commented Coach Cox after a strong road win, “it was a real physical game, and it is just great to beat Louisville here at their gym.”

Hebron fights valiantly in loss to Victory Christian 69-65

December 15, 2012

Hebron Christian made the road trip to Columbus in hopes of bouncing back from a loss to Washington School on Tuesday and to complete the season sweep on Victory Christian, a team they defeated handily earlier in November.
In a Thursday night game where both teams were on fire from behind the three point arc and the floor, the Eagles found themselves behind the eight ball heading into the fourth quarter. A scrappy comeback though saw Hebron fight back into contention, but run out of time as Victory went on to win 69-65.

Lady Eagles fall to Victory 53-43

December 15, 2012

The Lady Eagles of Hebron made the short journey over to Columbus to face Victory Christian. Back in November, the Lady Eagles hosted Victory in Pheba and were defeated on a buzzer-beating three pointer, 39-38. This time around it was major foul trouble which hampered Hebron Christian as Victory Christian pulled away in the fourth quarter, winning 53-43.
“I thought we played well enough to win tonight,” said Head Coach William Cotton, “it is just hard to win on an opponent’s court sometimes.”

Friday night, West Point travels down Highway 25 to Louisville to take on the Lady Wildcats and Wildcats in what should be two great ballgames.

Hebron nearly upsets Generals in 59-49 loss

December 12, 2012

It was the fourth overtime for Hebron Christian in this very early season. The Eagles’ Taylor Coggins swished the corner three which sent the game to overtime tied at 47. But the Generals were too much for Hebron as Washington used the Eagles’ critical mistakes to turn the tide and defeat Hebron in overtime 59-49.
“It is a hard loss because it is a game that got away from us,” said Head Coach Gary Vaughn after an agonizing defeat, “We should have claimed that one and done some different things toward the final stretch.”

Lady Eagles fight hard in loss to Washington School

December 12, 2012

The Lady Eagles on Tuesday night played host to the visiting MAIS AAA Washington Lady Generals. In a game that saw Hebron Christian only trail by three points in the first half, Washington was able to pull away in the second half going on to win 54-36.
“We kept it close through the first, we just don’t have the depth that they [Washington] have,” said Head Coach William Cotton after the Lady Eagle defeat, “I knew it would be a topsy-turvy game but I am just proud of our girls.”
