West Point narrowly falls to Houston, gets win over Noxubee

Head coach Brad Cox and his Green Wave basketball team are looking to wrap up the regular season with a slate of tough non-district road games.
After losing to district-mate Oxford on Monday, West Point made the short journey to Houston where they took on the Hilltoppers Tuesday night.

Lady Eagles ready to start district tourney

The Lady Eagle basketball program is coming off a big junior high district tournament this past weekend and hope that the success carries over into this coming weekend.
Hebron Christian is a very young ball club with four starters still in junior high, but under the direction of head coach William Cotton have played great basketball in the month of January. Last week’s junior high tournament championship gave the junior high girls much needed experience playing in a tournament atmosphere.

Eagles to take on Calhoun

Head Coach Gary Vaughn and his Hebron Christian Eagles are chomping at the bit as they are ready to enter into the district 3-A basketball tournament tonight.
Hebron has not played a game in over two weeks and have been really anticipating entering into the tournament. Even though some Eagles fans may be looking ahead to Saturday night, Coach Vaughn knows his team has to take care of Calhoun Academy first understanding how important the game is for seeding.

Oak Hill faces district at Leake

Oak Hill’s Head Coach Brian Middleton knows how important tonight’s game is against Canton Academy as the Raiders have yet to defeat the Cougars this season.
“A big game,” said Coach Middleton during a phone interview Thursday, “a win over Canton puts us one step closer to a district championship.”

Multiple colleges net eight Green Wave seniors

When it was all said and done on Wednesday, five colleges, both in and out of state, got signatures from eight West Point High School seniors to play football in the fall.
The class includes Mario Virges (East Mississippi Community College), Tez Lane (Northeast Mississippi Community College), Freddie Reed (University of North Alabama), Lyndon Johnson (Holmes Community College), Ed Brown (Coastal Carolina), Eric Lemus (East Mississippi Community College), Tre’ Bennett (Holmes Community College) and Terence ‘T.J.’ Minor (East Mississippi Community College).

Hebron Christian Junior High girls clinch tournament title

Hebron Christian’s Junior HIgh Lady Eagles were victorious on Friday night in the MAIS district 3-A tournament at Woods Junior College in Mathiston.
Thursday, Hebron had to make it through the first round of play against Central Academy of Macon. The Lady Eagles were successful in their attempt to take down the Lady Vikings and punched their ticket to the district title game.

Oak Hill Junior High Boys win district championship

The Oak Hill Junior High Raiders picked up their fourth consecutive district and kept the fifty plus winning streak alive. The Raiders defeated Immanual Christian Schools Junior High team on Saturday night to pick up their fourth straight title.

Lady Wave pick up second district win

The Lady Wave knew that Friday night was important, not only for their four senior players playing in their final regular-season home game but Friday was also important for district standings.
