New Green Wave site a hit during team’s road trip

September 1, 2010

In the past, Green Wave fans who were unable to make it to road games could listen to Bud Bowen do his signature play-by-play on the radio, but they would have to wait for the 10 o’clock news for even the smallest video glimpse of what went on.

Whether fans were listening to the radio or following Friday night’s game in Daytona on the internet’s live stream, spectators of West Point’s 14-0 win over the Buccaneers only got to see a small part of the puzzle that was the Green Wave’s weekend.
The ride down and the ride back were both around a baker’s dozen hours each. There were 81 players, and there was only so much space to go around.

The Hebron Christian Diamond Eagles out-hit the Lady Patriots of Marshall Academy on Monday night 7-3. When the final score was tallied, however, the Holly Springs team took the home win 2-1 in extra innings.
“I could tell in the first inning we didn’t come to play,” said Hebron head coach Cass Tapley. “We were slow with the bat all day. We weren’t striking out just were not driving the ball and there was really no reason for that except lack of focus.”

Police Vehicles May Become More Eco-Friendly

September 1, 2010

Several West Point police cruisers may soon be powered by propane fuel if the city is awarded the Energy Efficiency and Conservation Block Grant through the Mississippi Development Authority-Energy Division.
A special meeting of the Board of Mayor and Selectmen was held Monday night to discuss the grant program, which would allow some city vehicles to be converted to clean burning energy. It was determined that the only city vehicles that qualify for eligibility of the grant was the police department's eight new 2009 Crown Victorias.
