The Oak Hill Academy Raiders went into Fridayâ€™s contest against Indianola with a 1-1 record against the Colonels in 2010-2011. Looking to get their second win against the Delta team, Oak Hill could not get over the hump and take the lead, as they fell 59-55 in the Friday opener at the Kirk Academy Tournament.
The Colonels jumped on top for 16 points in the opening quarter of the game, holding Oak Hill to 14 points. Down by only two, the Raiders hung in there throughout the first half.
Willie Rogers Mills
Willie Rogers Mills, age 77, passed away Thursday, Dec. 30, 2010, at his home in Bellfountaine, Miss.
Funeral services are Saturday, Jan. 8, 2011, at the Double Springs M.B. Church in Bellfountaine, Miss. Family Hour is from 11 a.m - noon at Carter Funeral Home. The body will lie in state for visitation from 11:30 a.m. till the hour of the service at the church. Burial will follow in Double Springs M.B, Church Cemetery.

Iva Louise Johnson-Minor
Iva Louise Johnson Minor, age 89, passed away Tuesday, Jan. 4, 2011, at OCH Regional Hospital.
Funeral services are Saturday, Jan. 8, 2011, at 1 p.m. from First Baptist Pheba M.B. Church, with the Dr. Willie B. Lairy officiating. Burial will follow in Pheba Community Cemetery.
Visitation is today, from 3 â€“ 6 p.m. at Carter's Mortuary Services Chapel.
Carter's Mortuary Services is in charge of arrangements.

Yesterday, kids began to pour back into the schools in West Point. Members of the recent state champion football team at West Point were no exception. By the time seventh period came around, every member of the Green Wave team knew where to be.
After a rare two-week break for Christmas, the Green Wave hit the weight room and began lifting toward another run at the 5A state championship in 2011.
These guys know the routine. They know what it takes to win.
For the third time this week, West Pointâ€™s soccer teams will be playing at home tomorrow, this time in a critical district match with Saltillo. The first game starts at 11 a.m. with the girls, and the boys game will follow.
Harold B."Bobby" Burges
Harold B."Bobby" Burges, age 58, passed away, Wednesday, Jan. 5, 2011, at the North Mississippi Medical Center in Tupelo, Miss.
Robert Marcellus Ledbetter
Robert Marcellus Ledbetter, age 91, father, grandfather, and brother, passed away Thursday, Dec. 30, 2010, at Oaktree Plantation after an extended illness.
Born on Mar. 31, 1919, in Vina, Ala., he was a son of the late Charles A. & Peggy Weatherford Ledbetter.
Mr. Ledbetter was a lumberman, an employee of True Temper of Amory, Miss., and owned his own fabric business for many years. He was a deacon and member of First Baptist Church, Amory, Miss., over 50 years. Mr. Ledbetter enjoyed farming, gardening, carpentry work and his church.
Catherine Myers Wactor
Catherine Myers Wactor, age 86, passed away Tuesday, Jan. 4, 2011, at her residence in Meadville, Miss.
Mrs. Wactor was born Mar. 24, 1924, in Webster County to Joseph Myers and Rosie Grissom Myers. She was a homemaker and a member of Elmo Baptist Church.
Rev. Mike Dobrosky
The Rev. Mike Dobrosky, age 69, a priest of the Episcopal Diocese of Miss., and Oblate of the order of St. Benedict, passed away Sunday, Jan. 2, 2011, at his home in Clinton Miss., while under the care of Hospice Ministries.
Fr. Mike had been fighting a recurrence of gall bladder cancer. He was born in Lorain, Ohio, in 1941, to Peter and Mary (Demyan) Dobrosky. He attended and graduated from Lorain Ohio High School 1959.
On Tuesday night, the junior high boys of Winston Academy had Hebron down with less than two minutes to go in their first game since the break. Heborn, however, came back in the final minute to sink a three pointer and a free throw to win the game by a narrow 22-19 score.
Troy Arnold led the team with 10 points, followed by Hayden Carty with nine and Gray Crosthwait with three. This brings the boys to an overall 9-4 record on the season.
