Friday night was one of those nights for the Oak Hill Academy Raider football team.
Just when fans thought things could not get any worse than the scoring gap between their team and Lamar’s Raiders, the sight of players being carried off the field was almost too much.
Late in the game, Oak Hill’s Reid Posey was assisted off the field during a series, and later on, senior running back Doss Miller was carried off by the coaching staff, after injuring his ankle.

In a season when every single game is pivotal, the West Point Green Wave (5-1; 2-0) have not had a lot of time to breathe. Other than the week three bye that replaced a scheduled game with Columbus, West Point has been in high intensity mode for most of the season.
For many teams, this time of year means play with high intensity or risk falling out of playoff contention. The Green Wave are no exception to that, as conference play heats up, with just a little over a month to play in the regular season.

Lady Raiders bow out of playoffs

October 5, 2010

It’s every kid’s dream. It’s the last inning, the bases are loaded and there are two strikes with two outs. It’s all up to one batter.
Lauren Hitt lived that dream on Saturday night. A hot hitter of late, Hitt came to the plate with Oak Hill facing elimination from the state tournament in Ridgeland.
The Lady Raiders were down 10-6, and it was their last at-bat. There were two outs and time was running out in the game.

Lady Eagles take third place at state

October 5, 2010

For most of Hebron Christian’s Lady Eagles, Saturday’s visit to Freedom Ridge Park in Ridgeland was their first. At least it was their first in uniform.
Hebron made its first appearance ever in the softball state tournament on Saturday, and much like their trip to North State last week, they distinguished themselves immediately with a 4-2 win over Hiedelberg.
The Lady Eagles would fall in their next match, a 12-2 defeat at the hands of Silva Bay, but they would rally to stay in the tournament with a 5-4 win over Union Christian.

Eagles start league play with 32-20 loss to Central Holmes

October 2, 2010

The Hebron Christian Eagles (1-5; 0-1) were hoping that last week's bye would better prepare them for their first conference match, at Central Holmes (3-4; 1-1).
The last time Hebron took the field, two weeks ago, they were defeated 46-12 by the Oak Hill Raiders.
That made it back-to-back home losses for Hebron. In both weeks, they gave up 46 points, the other to Benton.
Central Holmes got on the board in the first quarter on a scoring drive, capped off by a 26 yard touchdown run by Corvell Dixon.
