Oak Hill pounds Central for 20 runs in win

March 4, 2011

On Monday night, the Oak Hill Academy Raiders (2-3) could not buy a hit in a 14-0 loss to Starkville Academy. Thursday night was a different story, however.
The Diamond Raiders were back at home for a contest against Macon Central, and though the Vikings roughed up Oak Hill starter Chance Livingston early, it was the Oak Hill offense that battled back for a 20-9 victory after six innings.
Livingston gave up two quick runs in the top of the first inning. A two-run double followed a single and a walk, but the young hurler got out of the jam with no further damage.

Barclay impressive in early-going

February 28, 2011

The West Point Green Wave baseball team is still quite young. Despite most of the guys on the team having played a good bit over the last couple of years, the Green Wave are still trying to find the right spots for some of their players.
There is one spot that head coach Buddy Wyers thinks might be sown up for quite a few years to come.
Freshman Bruce Barclay has impressed his coaches over the course of the last couple of weeks, and he might have won himself the catcher's job.

West Point baseabll eyeing next level

February 28, 2011

One jamboree and one Classic down, and everything is looking up for the West Point Diamond Wave baseball team for the 2011 season. Last year, it wasn't until April 1 that the Green Wave got to play an actual game on their home turf.
They made sure they would not repeat that this year, when they hosted their Classic this past weekend.
Overall, everything seems more upbeat about West Point's young baseball team. They're a year older, and they are winning early-on.
