Ella Mae Washington

Ella Mae Washington age 84, passed away Tuesday, March 5, 2013, at Oktibbeha County Hospital in Starkville.
Funeral services are Saturday, March 16, 2013, at 11 a.m. from First Baptist Pheba Church with the Rev. Ronnie Smith officiating. Burial will follow in First Baptist Pheba Church Cemetery.
Visitation is today, Friday, March 15, 2013, from 3 – 6 p.m. at Carter’s Mortuary Services Chapel.
Carter’s Mortuary Services is in charge of arrangements.

Nathaniel Neely

March 13, 2013

Nathaniel Neely age 94, passed away Sunday, March 10, 2013, at Community Hospice, Inc. of Verona.
Funeral services are Saturday, March 16, 2013. at noon from Mt. Zion M.B. Church in Van Vleet. Burial will follow in Ross Hill Cemetery.
The body will lie at the church from 11 a.m. until service time for viewing.
Carter Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Spring Break at the Animal Shelter

Local students are donating their time at the West Point/Clay County Animal Shelter. Taking care of puppies is a big job and Ramsey Claire Robinson, Nadia Flowers, Brittany Thomas and Abigail Turner are helping socialize and cleaning up after the five remaining puppies from a litter of nine. Funeral services are Saturday, March 16, 2013 at 2:00 p.m. from the Chapel of Calvert Funeral Home with visitation being from 12:30 p.m. until service time. Burial will follow at Pleasant Grove United Methodist Cemetery in Una.
