Delma Lucille Snyder Cliett
Delma Lucille Snyder Cliett, age 91, of Starkville, Miss., passed away at Starkville Manor Nursing Home on Saturday, June 4, 2011. She was a member of Calvary Baptist Church .
Mrs. Cliett was preceded in death by her husband, James Russell Cliett, and a daughter, Ann Cliett Palmer.
Mrs. Cliett is survived by her granddaughters: Dr. Kimberly Ray of Madison, Miss.; and Kelley Black of Louisville, Miss.; grandsons, Russ Palmer of Starkville, Miss.; and Brian Palmer of Huntsville, Ala.; 12 great-grandchildren and one great-great grandchild.

48-year-old Michael “Shane” McClure died Saturday night after allegedly being shot by his father, 69-year-old Walter Raymond McClure.
On Saturday around 11:22 p.m., West Point police officers were dispatched to the subdivision near Converse Dr. in West Point in reference to gunshots that were fired. Upon their arrival, officers encountered Michael McClure sprawled out across the driveway of 507 Converse Dr. with Walter McClure laying on top of him, according to Mike Burgess, head of investigations for the West Point Police Department.

One of Clay County’s longest-serving elected officials passed away unexpectedly on Saturday afternoon.
David Winfield, who was running for the supervisor’s seat in District 5, a seat he held for more than 20 years, died Saturday from what was believed to be a heart attack.

Robert Jolly
Robert Emmitt Jolly, age 56, of Cedar Bluff, passed away Thursday, May 23, 2011. Funeral services were Thursday, May 26, 2011, at 11 a.m. from Culpepper Funeral Home Chapel in Kosciusko, Miss. Burial followed in Ebenezer Cemetery in Leake County.
Mr. Jolly was preceded in death by his mother, Mollie W. Jolly; two sisters: Linda Smith and Cheryl Goode; niece, Ashley Goode; and aunt, Hazel Jolly.
Kenneth Bryan “Shoe” Juckes
Kenneth Bryan “Shoe” Juckes, age 53, died Saturday, May 28, 2011, in McCondy, Miss.
Mr. Juckes was born Jan. 13, 1958, in Canada to Winston Bryan “Bing” Juckes and Margaret Wilda Moore Juckes. He was owner/operator of Shoe Transport and a retired professional jockey. He never met a stranger. He was a free spirit and lived life to the fullest.
Funeral services are today, Wednesday, June 1, 2011, at 2 p.m. at Houston Funeral Home with the Rev. Steve Lampkin officiating. Houston Funeral Home in Houston, Miss., is in charge of the arrangements.

Thomas, Nevins Exchange Vows
Katharine Geonette Thomas and Reid Addison Nevins were united in marriage Saturday, Dec. 4, 2010, at First United Methodist Church in West Point, Miss. The 2 p.m. ceremony was officiated by the Rev. Jeffery Shannon and Minister Tim Wilson.
The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Ben Lamar Thomas of West Point, Miss. She is the granddaughter of Mrs. Hollis M. Pendley of West Point, Miss., and the late Mr. Hollis M. Pendley, and the late Mr. and Mrs. Leo C. Thomas.

56-year-old Robert Jolly of Cedar Bluff died Monday night after being struck by an 18-wheeler traveling east bound on U.S. Highway 82 near the Montgomery/Webster County line.
According to the Mississippi Highway Patrol, Jolly was standing in front of his 1996 Chrysler LHS that was parked on the northbound shoulder of the highway when the 2005 International 18-wheeler ran off the road and collided with Jolly's vehicle. The 18-wheeler was driven by 63-year-old Ben Cliett of Cedar Bluff, who was traveling east bound on Highway 82 around Pheba.
57-year-old Jane Morgan of Starkville is in critical condition after being struck Sunday morning by a vehicle traveling west bound on Highway 50 in Clay County.
The Mississippi Highway Patrol reports that Morgan was also headed west bound on her bicycle alongside another cyclist around 10 a.m. Sunday when a driver, 44-year-old Robbie Morton of Cedar Bluff, hit Morgan with her vehicle. Officials say Morton was not charged with anything, and the accident is currently under investigation by MHP.
Charles E. "Bill" Turnage
Charles E. "Bill" Turnage, age 98, passed away, Saturday, May 21, 2011, at the Covington County Hospital, in Collins, Miss.
Charles Estel Turnage was born Feb. 22, 1913, in Montpelier, Miss., to the late Jenny Langford and Lynwood Turnage. He worked at Babcock & Wilcox in the Steel Yard for 25 years and was a member of Enon Baptist Church. Charles E. "Bill" Turnage married Geneva Cartee Turnage July 1, 1938, in Montpelier, she preceded him in death August 10, 1991.
