A civil case in which a mother is fighting for her son is still very much active in the United States Northern District Court of Mississippi, and the mother contends that The Pony club is partly to blame.

Vance a perfect fit for CASA coordinator

Mary Jean Vance has been a part of the CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocate) system in Clay County since its inception in the early 1990s.
On Wednesday, Vance was sworn in as Clay’s Volunteer Coordinator for CASA by Judge Tom Storey just before the county’s Drug Court deliberations began.

Gov. Bryant signs sweeping education laws

The four education laws that were signed by Gov. Phil Bryant at Northwest Rankin High School on Wednesday were not as sweeping as most who supported them had originally hoped, but the legislation package represents the biggest changes in public education law since 1982.

The first thing I made with my new mixer

I thought for a long time about what the first thing I would mix in my new Kitchenaid mixer would be and this past weekend, I finally got to get mixing.
I’ve wanted a mixer for over a year. How anyone goes to a department store and doesn’t drool over the arrangement of brightly colored mixers, I will never know. And finally, my time came.

Carey E. Henley, known as “Coach”, age 76, of Chattanooga, Tenn., passed away April 15, 2013 at his home in East Ridge.
He was born in West Point, to the late W.L. (Bud) Henley and Annie Rea Berry Henley.

Bennie Lee Neely Sr., age 58, passed away Friday, April 12, 2013, at University Hospital of Jackson.
Funeral services are Thursday, April 18, 2013, at 11 a.m. from Payne Chapel M.B. Church with the Rev. Edward Dean officiating. Burial will follow in New Hope Baptist Church Cemetery.
Visitation is today, Wednesday, April 17, 2013, from 3 – 6 p.m. at Carter’s Mortuary Services Chapel.
Carter’s Mortuary Services is in charge of arrangements.
