“We really wanted it tonight,” said Oak Hill head coach Brian Middleton. “I’m extremely proud.”

Whether it was Paige Dawkins’ 10-point first quarter, Tori Ellis’ run in the second and third or the girls coming off the bench in the fourth, there was not stopping Oak Hill, which won the game 68-22.
“We have the ability to ware people down,” said Oak Hill head coach Stan Hughey, whose team has won eight straight. “I’m really proud of that bunch. They gave us a really good effort.”

Ewings would eventually end up with a season-high 29 points on the night.
Offensively, though, West Point got off to a bit of a slow start, scoring just seven points in the first quarter of play. They finished the quarter down 11-7.

The first of those contestants was the always dangerous Leake Academy girls. They were the first team to defeat Hebron this season, and they did that last Saturday.
The second defeat for the Lady Eagles came against a cross county competitor in Oak Hill Academy.

Three years ago, Perrance Ward played his final snap of high school football for the West Point Green Wave. He left West Point at the end of the fall of 2007, and he would not start again on a football field until this past August.
Graduating from Southaven that Spring, Ward began his journey toward playing football at the next level. For the safety, it’s been a long road, but after a season under his belt at East Mississippi Community College, the West Point native is getting a chance at senior college ball.
