The West Point Lady Green Wave defense put on a show on Friday night, giving the home crowd a second straight win here in West Point as they defeated Aberdeen 55-33.
Most of Aberdeen’s scoring came in the last quarter, and by the time they were able to put some real points on the board, Kelsei Ewings and the Lady Wave had already mounted a sizable lead.
In the first quarter, West Point came out exploding on both sides of the ball. Ewings led the offense to 17 points in the first period, and the defense held Aberdeen to just five points.

After beating powerhouse football programs like Wayne County and West Jones, the Brookhaven Panthers likely thought they could handle the West Point Green Wave team as well.
If they asked Provine, Oxford and Ridgeland, however, they might have been a little nervous going into Saturday night’s 5A state championship game with the Green Wave.
West Point, a team that played close and from behind in many of its district games this year, began its peak right as November rolled around.
