The West Point Green Wave (11-1) extended its winning streak to eight games with an easy, 89-51 win over the Houston Hilltoppers (3-5) Tuesday night on the campus of West Point High School in West Point.

Oak Hill gets district wins over Manchester

YAZOO CITY— A 44-9 halftime advantage was large enough to secure Oak Hill’s first District 2-AA win of the 2013-14 season, as the Lady Raiders (8-6; 1-1 District 2-AA) routed the Manchester Academy Lady Mavericks, 54-28, Saturday on the campus of Manchester Academy.
Sophomore Sarah Dill led Oak Hill with 14 points, senior point guard Maegan Ellis added 12 points and Sydney Holton contributed with nine points.

Lady Panthers pull away from Lady Wave

MACON — Only leading by two points at halftime, the Quitman Lady Panthers proved their mettle in the second half, pulling away from the West Point Lady Wave for a 55-41 win Saturday afternoon at the Coleman-Triplett Classic on the campus of Noxubee County High School.
Shamaya Lyles and Alexis Gates led a reeling West Point (3-7) with 13 points each -- leading all scorers. Qiayon Bailey added six points in the losing effort.
Palexus Pittman led Quitman with 10 points -- the only Lady Panther to reach double figures.

Green Wave pulls away from Quitman, 72-49

MACON — West Point did not have an ample time to celebrate its tight, hard-fought 74-66 victory over a talented Tupelo Golden Wave team on Friday night.
The Green Wave (10-1) made a quick 16-hour turnaround and 32-mile trip south to Noxubee County High School as they defeated the Quitman Panthers, 72-49, Saturday at the Coleman-Triplett Classic.
“Quitman was a big, athletic team,” West Point Head Coach Brad Cox said. “We were able to take their defensive pressure and make it an advantage for us.

West Point, Tupelo tip off tonight

The West Point Green Wave was searching for a signature win to open the 2013-14 basketball season.
A program that waited over 20 seasons to claim a district title in 2012 — its first district title since 1989 — the Wave had not been as well renowned for their prowess on the hardwood, unlike West Point's football program on the gridiron.

Rebels victorious over Oak Hill

MADDEN –– Leake Academy's returning District 2-AA Player of the Year Alex Shepherd was too much for Oak Hill to handle in its opening game of the District 2-AA campaign Tuesday evening.
The 6-foot-3-inch junior point guard scored a game-high 34 points, and the Leake Rebels (8-2; 1-0 District 2-AA) secured a 66-54 win over the Oak Hill Raiders (5-5; 0-1 District 2-AA) in a MAIS Basketball game.
Oak Hill's Drake Riley collected a double-double with 15 points and 10 rebounds. Drew Riley scored 14 points in the Raiders' fourth loss in the past five games.

Hebron defeats Kemper

PHEBA — Rebekah Falkner scored a game-high 16 points, Holly Hudson and Alaina Hill reached double figures with 10 points each and the Hebron Christian Lady Eagles (3-2; 3-0 District 3-A) defeated the Kemper Lady Rams, 58-29, in a MAIS basketball game Tuesday on the campus of Hebron Christian School.
“When you get an early lead, it allows you to work on the specifics with the first unit,” Hebron Head Coach Bruce Franks said. “We need all them hitting on the same cylinders.”

EMCC claims second NJCAA football title

BILOXI — For the second time in three years, East Mississippi Community College wrapped up a perfect season by winning a national championship — topping Georgia Military College 52-32 here at Biloxi Indian Stadium Sunday afternoon in the 2013 Mississippi Bowl.
MACJC State Champion EMCC, which finished 12-0, also won the 2011 NJCAA National Championship with a victory in the El Toro Bowl in Yuma, Ariz.

Arnold, Caskey set for all-star game

Hebron Christian senior Troy Arnold and Oak Hill senior Joseph Caskey have prepped for the MAIS All-Star Football Game at 4 p.m. today in Robinson-Hale Stadium on the campus of Mississippi College in Clinton.
After both had outstanding seasons for their respective teams – both squads making the postseason, Arnold and Caskey joined forces on Tuesday as members of the MAIS North All-Stars for a three-day training camp in the Jackson metro-area to get ready for one last game as high students.

Hebron trounces Grace

PHEBA — Hebron Christian entered its Thanksgiving break after winning two games against District 3-A opponent Calhoun Academy and non-district opponent Winona Christian.
The Eagles did not lose their winning ways over the week long break as Landon Hill scored a game-high 20 points, Channing Tapley collected a double-double with 16 points and 10 rebounds and Hebron (3-1; 1-0 District 3-A) outpaced Grace Christian, 76-23, in a MAIS non-district contest Tuesday.
