February 25th
It was a rematch of the AA North State Tournament semi-final as the Oak Hill Lady Raiders met up with Prairie View Academy again this past Saturday. In the previous meeting, the Lady Raiders used a second half rally to overcome a 12-point deficit to defeat the Lady Spartans 55-50.
After making the first round of the playoffs, the Hebron Christian Eagles will be raising their expectations in the 2013 baseball campaign.
“Yeah, expectations are to make the playoffs,” said assistant coach Cass Tapely about the expectation for the season, “we want to make a deeper run this year.”
With a three senior looking to start, Hebron will also rely on underclassmen to fill in the other six spots in field. Yet the underclassmen will not lack experience as many of them picked up valuable experience in the past seasons.
West Point’s head coach Buddy Wyers feels this team may have the right chemistry. The chemistry which can give experience to younger players and put wins in the win columns. It will be this chemistry that will help the Green Wave find victories in schedule that is full of challenges.
Already getting the season under way, West Point had a great showing in Columbus as the Diamond Wave played abbreviated games against Caledonia and Hamilton in a baseball jamboree. Coach Wyers pointed to a good showing from his young pitching staff that picked up their first true varsity pitch counts.

It was the semi-final round of the MAIS AA State Tournament Friday as the Oak Hill Lady Raiders took the floor against a strong Bowling Green School of Louisiana.
It is about that time of year again when you start to hear the pop of the ball hitting the glove, and the ping of the aluminum bat followed by the cheers for a long-driven home run ball. As you maybe could guess, it is time for the high school baseball season to get under way here in West Point.
February 21st
Oak Hill Academy qualified for the MAIS AA State Tournament with a win over North Delta School last week in Madden on the campus of Leake Academy. The Raiders were unable to further their seeding though after two losses to Leake and Canton Academy in the following days of the tournament. The losses placed Oak Hill into the fourth seed and gave them a date with the AA South State Champions Central Private School of Central, Louisiana.
The Lady Raiders returned to action Wednesday in the first round of the MAIS AA State Tournament on the campus of Canton Academy. Placed as a second seed out of the north, Oak Hill took on the third seed from the south Columbia Academy in a 4:00 p.m. tip-off.

Google search “Dewayne Jefferson”, and click the first link that you see on the list of sources containing the name. It should lead you to a Wikipedia profile which shows a short, brief paragraph about an American professional basketball player.
A West Point, Mississippi native Jefferson is well traveled. And even though the Wikipedia page does not fill in the blanks, I want to make those blanks disappear and fill them in with his story.
So you may be asking, who is Dewayne Jefferson?
