One student at West Point High School, Oak Hill Academy and Hebron Christian School is going to get a little help with college next fall, providing they are planning to attend Mississippi State University.
The MSU Alumni Chapter in West Point will be hosting its fourth-annual golf tournament to raise money for scholarships that will go to one Bulldog-bound student from each area high school.
The golf tournament, which will be played on May 6, 2013 is the primary way the chapter raises money for these scholarships.

Recently, I ran across a quote from the current Biggersville basketball coach Cliff Little in a tweet from Southern Sentinel’s Kedrick Storey. Coach Little in reference to his upcoming opponent, Blue Mountain, said that they were “hungry…They’re like a man by a dumpster looking for a crumb.” Though some may see that as a slight at Blue Mountain or maybe even a negative remark about homelessness, Coach Little’s remark about Blue Mountain was the biggest compliment. Never would I want to be in an all-out brawl with someone who was that hungry.

Following a 57-48 loss at the hands of Leake Academy, the Oak Hill Academy Raiders found themselves in the consolation game of the AA North State Tournament. The loss to Leake on Friday did not eliminate the Raiders from postseason contention but placed them with a lower possible seed heading into this week’s state tournament. Standing in the way of Oak Hill for the third seed was district 2-AA mate Canton Academy.

The Lady Raiders continued their postseason run in the MAIS AA North State Tournament on the campus of Leake Academy.
In the quarterfinal round, Oak Hill met up with division 1-AA opponent Marshall Academy. The Lady Raiders and Lady Patriots had played twice during the regular season, splitting the series.
Oak Hill has enjoyed the postseason this week with wins over North Delta School and Central Hinds Academy, the number one seed from district 3-AA. These two wins during the week placed the Raiders into the MAIS AA North State semi-finals and punched their ticket into the AA State Tournament.
Friday night the Raiders returned to the hardwood to take on the Leake Academy Rebels in their third match-up of the season. In the previous two meetings, the Rebels had gotten the better of Oak Hill defeating the Raiders both times.

In a time where remakes of movies are coming out constantly and every thing is starting to look the same, it is always refreshing to see something that stands alone.
