The Oak Hill Raiders are coming off a successful 6-6 season and their first playoff berth since the 2009 season. The six win season was the most wins in a regular season since Randy Carlisle’s squad in 2006. Second year head coach Daniel Merchant is looking for the three weeks of spring training to be a positive for his team.

Mid-day Friday, Oak Hill seniors Shay Atkins and Palmer White placed pen to paper signaling they will be attending East Mississippi Community College in Scooba and competing for the EMCC Rodeo Team.

No we are not discussing a morning talk show, but the Oak Hill mixed doubles pairing of Kim Kelly and John Wesley Williamson have had similar success to “Regis and Kelly.”

1,519 rushing yards in his junior year and the A-train is ready to leave the station and carry the load a little bit further down the track this coming fall. Possibly to Jackson and Mississippi Veterans’ Memorial Stadium in December.

The last time the Green Wave were victorious on the baseball diamond was March 5 against rival Starkville at Taylor Park. West Point, Tuesday evening, was hoping to end an 18-game skid to close out the 2013 campaign.

Technique, physicality , and aggressiveness. These are the three words that West Point offensive line coach Casey Welch presses on his boys every practice until they may get tired of hearing it. But this push on technique, physicality, and aggressiveness is the most valuable assets to the downhill running attack of the Green Wave offense. Without a tight unit in front of the backfield, all havoc could break loose and limited success on the offensive side of the football would be the result.
