After a thrilling victory against district-rival New Hope 67-63 Friday night, the Green Wave went on the road to face-off against long-time rival Starkville.
In the previous meeting between the Green Wave and Yellow Jackets on November 30, West Point was the victor after an edgy contest between two great foes 61-57. The win was the first over Starkville in ten years or more.
The Lady Wave entered the Beehive Saturday night at Starkville High following a district loss to New Hope on Friday night January 18. Though losing the night before, West Point looked ready to compete well facing their arch-rival the Lady Jackets.
With the regular season coming to a close, Brian Middleton is looking for his varsity squad to finish out strong. After winning two straight district games on Tuesday against Winston and a tough 54-52 win against Manchester in Yazoo City, the Raiders failed to bring the same energy and focus on Saturday against regional rival Starkville Academy, falling 56-37 in the contest
To cap off one of the last few weeks of the regular season, the Oak Hill Lady Raiders split a pair of games in two weekend contests, blowing the doors off of Manchester Academy Friday night before taking a 57-25 beating from top-ranked Starkville Academy Saturday evening.
