The close ones always sting the most. In a huge weekend for Oak Hill, the Raiders were unable to secure two big games against Canton Academy on the road and Leake Academy at home with their chances of a number 1 seed in the conference tournament diminished. However, Oak Hill proved to the Panthers and Rebels both that they would not go down without a fight, and by the time the tournament rolls around, this young Raiders squad will have a legitimate shot at taking home the blue trophy.
It was a difficult challenge for the West Point Green Wave to pick up a win Saturday against the Corinth Warriors. The Wave battled Corinth, a perennial power in north Mississippi 4-A, in Ecru at the North Pontotoc High School “Kings of the Court” tournament. A game that needed more than regulation to decide a winner, the Wave were on the wrong end of the scoreboard with an overtime loss to the Warriors 63-56.
