Starkville High School did the unthinkable September 10, 2010, defeating the Green Wave 21-20. It was the only loss for West Point before they won 12 in a row on their way to a second consecutive 5A state title.
History, fans hope, wonâ€™t repeat itself tonight when the two teams meet under different circumstances.
The Green Wave have started 0-2 for the first time since 2000 while the Yeallowjackets are coming off back-to-back wins over Madison Central and Tupelo.

Just four weeks into the season and the Eagles are 1-1 coming off last weeks 48-8 over Calvary Christian. Head coach Tri Nason said heâ€™s a hard time on occasions trying to keep his team focused for this week because they are still excited after that first victory.
â€śThere still a little bit excited, Iâ€™m trying to get them to forget it but they havenâ€™t forgotten it yet,â€ť he said. â€śHopefully theyâ€™ll be calmed down a little by Friday.â€ť
A new and improved Manchster Academy rolls into West Point tonight trying to keep up their impressive start to the season while Oak Hill Academy are still trying to correct the mistakes theyâ€™ve been making all season long that have kept them winless thus far.
â€śWe found out who wanted to be here and who doesnâ€™t this week,â€ť head coach Benjie Merchant said. â€śWeâ€™ve had some good practices but weâ€™re still searching for our identity.â€ť
