The West Point Green Wave baseball team is ready to hit the field.
Unfortunately for the Diamond Wave, a line of storms swept through the state on Friday, keeping the team from playing the three games they were slated to play in the Hatley Tournament on Friday and Saturday.
Today, the team gets a chance to hit the home field, taking on the Yellowjackets of Starkville High School. It will be a non-district game.
“They are always competitive,” said West Point head coach Buddy Wyers of Starkville. “They always have had good teams down through the years.”
