Center of attention - West Point handed first district loss, 30-29 by Center Hill

October 22, 2011

OLIVE BRANCH - Three or four plays Friday night could have made all the difference.

For Center Hill, they made plays at the right time, converting on a trio of third downs late in the ball game and capped off a 73-yard drive with a 22-yard touchdown run by quarterback Jacob Marsh to upset West Point 30-29.

Dequinten Spraggins’ quarterback keeper with 14 seconds left to play fell just shy of the first down on the Green Wave’s final effort.

Kirk scores 21-unanswered points to top Oak Hill

October 22, 2011

GRENADA - A first half touchdown by freshman tailback Drake Riley wasn’t enough to give Oak Hill it’s first win on the season, as the Raiders stumbled on the road, 21-6 to Kirk Academy.

The loss is the ninth in a row for the Raiders who scored just their second touchdown in the last three weeks.
Looking to convert on fourth down in the second quarter, Kirk tired a little trickery with a fake punt only to be snuffed out by the Raiders defense.
