Monster Wave - West Point stays perfect at 4-0 after 47-7 win over Saltillo

October 15, 2011

It was obvious from the sidelines that West Point is happy where they are right now.

After a perfect 4-0 start in district play, who wouldn’t be?

The Green Wave scored 47 unanswered points Friday night, on their way to convincing 47-7 win over Saltillo to remain atop the district standings and move to 5-3 on the season.

“We played hard, we’re improving everyday,” West Point head coach Chris Chambless said after the Green Wave earned their fourth consecutive win. “We just go to get to that point where we make zero mistakes, we don’t miss any blocks or any tackles.”

A 4-3 record may not seem like much to most on paper, but for Hebron Christian, Friday night’s 24-6 win over Calhoun Academy made a clear statement the Eagles football program is headed in the right direction.

Head coach Tri Nason talked all week about the importance in having a winning season, and the players bought into it.

“One hundred percent,” he said. “I count this season as a success even though we are 4-3. We could easily be 6-1. And on top of that we did what most people said what we wouldn’t do and that was win more than a couple of games.”
