Oak Hill girls to battle Leake tonight at home

The Leake Academy Lady Rebels’ head coach Doyle Wolverton now has the most wins of any girls basketball coach in the state, with over 1,000.
Tonight, Wolverton and his Lady Rebels will be paying a visit to the Lady Raiders of Oak Hill Academy.
The visit comes on the heels of the Lady Raiders’ biggest margin of victory yet in the early part of the season.
After a loss to Kirk last Thursday, the Lady Raiders came out and responded with a Friday night victory over the Immanuel Lady Rams.

Raiders back at home to take on Leake Academy

The Oak Hill Academy Raiders will be back on the court again tonight, coming off a split late last week.
The Raiders, who sport a 1-2 record on the early season, will be facing a tough opponent in Leake, at home.
Last week, the Raiders began the season in Meridian, taking on Lamar Academy. They dropped that first game, and then returned home to face Kirk and Immanuel in back-to-back home matches.

West Point boys to take on East Oktibbeha tonight at home

After picking up a win at the West Point Classic, pre-season tournament, the Green Wave went on to defeat Houston in the first regular season game of the 2010-2011 season.
The returned to the court the following Thursday, but they were out-gunned by Tupelo’s team 90-70.
Tonight, the Green Wave will have a week’s rest under their belt, and they will try to get back on the winning side, as they get set to take on East Oktibbeha here at home.

West Point girls go back to the court against East Oktibbeha

The Lady Green Wave of West Point High School are back home tonight to take on East Oktibbeha.
The Lady Green Wave are coming off a 64-47 loss to the Lady Wave of Tupelo last week.
With a week’s rest behind them, and a lot of practice this week, the Lady Wave are looking to get their first win since the West Point Classic.
West Point opened the season up last week with a loss at Houston.
The returned to the hardwood two nights later to take on Tupelo in a road match, but the game yielded the same results.

Youth Football Continues In Frigid Temps

On Tuesday night, the West Point Parks and Recreation Youth Football league continued its play, after a rainy afternoon. The temperature was cold, and the wind was blowing, but that did not stop the kids from playing.

Green Wave set for another rematch

The West Point Green Wave football team is used to playing rematches.
Last year during the playoffs, it was West Point and New Hope locking up for the second time in the 2009 season, and it was the Green Wave who prevailed in both the regular season meeting and the aforementioned post-season match up.
The 2010 season began with a rematch between West Point and Shannon, this time with the Green Wave playing the role of the avenger, angry for their only 2009 blemish.

Upward Sports celebrates five years of ministry in West Point

A kid throws the basketball up to the hoop, sinking it into the net that stands seven feet off the ground. Time doesn’t stop, the normally two-point shot is not recorded and a member of the opposing comes up and gives a high five to the scorer.
It doesn’t sound like the everyday youth basketball game, but that’s how it’s done in the Upward Sports League, a youth sports ministry that has been serving West Point for five years.
