Johnny Amos Mathews, age 64, passed away Thursday, January 17, 2013.
Johnny Amos Mathews was born September 10, 1948, in West Point, to the late Beatrus and Lula Mathews.
Funeral Services are Wednesday, January 23, 2013, at 11 a.m. at Mt Pisgah Waverly Missionary Baptist Church in West Point, with Rev. Darren Harris officiating. Burial will follow at Union Star Missionary Baptist Church Cemetery.
Survivors include one brother, Eddie Clyde Mathews of Park Forest, Ill., and two sisters, Mandy Lee of Dixmoor, Ill., and Vivian M. Presley of Clarksdale.
Charlotte Wimberley Young age 82, passed away Monday, January 21, 2013, at Waverly Care Home in West Point.
Charlotte Wimberley Young was born March 15, 1930, in Houston, to the late Ethel Alford and Willie Kenneth Wimberley. She was a homemaker and bookkeeper. Mrs. Young was a member of First United Methodist Church.
Charlotte Wimberley Young married Caradine Westbrook Young March 6, 1949, at First United Methodist Church.
Yvonne R.’Lucy’ Blankenship age 84 ,passed away Sunday January 20, 2013 at Oktibbeha County Hospital in Starkville. Lucy Blankenship was born July 25, 1928, in Clay County to the late Elma Thornton and A. P. Ray. She retired from Knickerbocker and Big Yank clothing factory. She was a member of Faith Baptist Church. She was a member of the Tibbee Volunteer Fire Dept. for 20 years.

Hershey Emiline Quinn Turnage age 86, died Thursday, January 17, 2013, at North Mississippi Medical Center in West Point.
She was born April 12, 1926, to Hollis Lee Quinn and Leota Thompson Quinn in Old Hebron.
Mary Rose Dendy Brand age 63, passed away Thursday, January 17, 2013, at Baptist Memorial Hospital-Golden Triangle in Columbus.
Mary Rose Brand was born March 25, 1949, in the Anchor Community of Chickasaw County, to the late Jewel Lorene Dendy and Ellis Adron Dendy. Mary Brand last worked as the Lifestyle Editor for The Daily Times Leader for a total of 30 years service. She was a member of Enon Baptist Church. Mary Rose Dendy Brand married Lonnie Edgar Brand August 22, 1970, at Bethel Baptst Church.

Angela D. Walker age 39, passed away Tuesday, January 15, 2013, at North Mississippi Medical Center in Tupelo.
Funeral services are Sunday, January 20, 2013, at 2 p.m. from Mt. Pisgah M.B. Church with the Rev. Harris officiating. Burial will follow in Greenwood Cemetery.
Visitation is Saturday, January 19, 2013, at Carter’s Mortuary Services Chapel from 1 – 5 p.m.
Carter’s Mortuary Services is in charge of arrangements.
State Representative David Gibbs age 76, passed away Sunday, January 13, 2013, at North Mississippi Medical Center in Tupelo.
Funeral services are Saturday, January 19, 2013, at 11 a.m. from Third Mt. Olive M.B. Church with the Rev. Isreal Lee officiating. Burial will follow in West Point Memorial Gardens.
Visitation is today, Friday, January 18, 2013, from 3 – 6 p.m. at Third Mt. Olive M.B. Church.

Donny Weed age 75, passed away Tuesday, January 15, 2013, at Pioneer Hospital in Aberdeen.
Donald Avery Weed was born December 22, 1937. in Chickasaw County, to the late Lucy Jeanette Boyce and Andrew Melvin Weed. He was of the Baptist faith.
Funeral services are Friday, January 18, 2013, at 1 p.m. at Calvert Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Bobby Brock officiating.   Burial will follow in Macedonia Cemetery in Houston.Â

Joey Perry, age 55, passed away Saturday, January 12, 2013, at North Mississippi Medical Center of West Point. Joseph Lynn Perry was born November 3, 1957, in West Point, to the late Sarah Louise Morris and Olen Pliny Perry. Joey Perry was a Certified Honda Motorcycle Technician and Parts Manager for Ellis Steel. He was of the Baptist Faith. He loved to ride his Harley Davidson Softail Custom and work on any motorcyle or four wheeler. Joey Perry married Lisa Carol Hamlin Perry August 25, 1989, in West Point.
Dicie Harris Fulgham age 87, passed away Sunday, January 13, 2013, at Oktibbeha Regional Medical Center in Starkville.
Dicie Delora Fulgham was born November 5, 1925, in Jasper, Ala., to the late Mary Alice Aldridge and Lucius Brack Harris. Mrs. Fulgham was a member of Trinity Baptist Church .and was a homemaker. Dicie Harris Fulgham married Tandy Elwood Fulgham March 16, 1946, in Starkville. He preceded her in death March 7, 2000.
