February 21st, 2013
Libby, as her friends called her, was born in 1923, the ninth and last surviving child of ten children (five boys and five girls) of James Pinkney Colbert and Mattie Mae (Bowles) Colbert, in West Point.
She graduated from West Point High School and furthered her education at a business college. Libby joined the Marine Corps during WWII, becoming a recruiting sergeant and subsequently working at the Pentagon. She was one of five Colbert children serving in the War, proudly displaying 5 stars on the door of their family home.
Catherine Boyd age 78, passed away Tuesday, February 19, 2013, in Indianapolis, Ind.
Funeral services are Saturday, February 23, 2013 at 3 p.m. from Union Star M. B. Church. Burial will follow in the Shady Grove Waverly Cemetery.
Visitation is today, Friday, February 22, 2013, from 5 -7:00 p.m. at Carter Funeral Home.

Doris T. Bandy, 91, passed away this week. Funeral services are incomplete and will be announced later by Calvert Funeral Home of West Point.
Earlie Mae Townsend age 64, passed away Thursday, February 14, 2013, at North Mississippi Medical Center of West Point.
Funeral services are today, Wednesday, February 20, 2013, at 11 a.m. from Progress St. Church of God with Bishop William Golden officiating. Burial will follow in Greenwood Cemetery.

Jannie M. Fenton age 73, passed away Saturday, February 9, 2013, at Jackson University Hospital in Jackson.
Funeral services were Saturday, February 16, 2013, at 11 a.m. from Union Star M.B. Church with the Rev. Sammie Hill officiating. Burial followed in Oak Grove Cemetery in Columbus.

Shelia V. Evans age 41, passed away Saturday, February 6, 2013, in Jackson.
Funeral services are Saturday, February 16, 2013, at 1:30 p.m. from Callahan M.B. Church in Woodland. The body will arrive at the church at 1 p.m. Burial will follow in Callahan M.B. Church Cemetery.

Sharron Ann Hall age 60, passed away Wednesday, February 6, 2013, at her home.
Funeral services are Friday, February 15, 2013, at 1 p.m. from Johnson Creek M.B. Church in Pheba. The Rev. Bruce Guyton will be officiating. Burial will follow in Antioch Cemetery.
Visitation is today, Thursday, February 14, 2013. from 3 – 6 p.m. at Carter’s Mortuary Services Chapel.

James Prentice Hardister Jr., age 79, passed away Sunday, February 10, 2013, in Madison County General Hospital of Jackson, Tenn.
Mr. Hardister was preceded in death by his parents, James Prentice Hardister Sr. and Mable Bridgewater Hardister.
He was a member of the Whiteville Masonic Lodge No. 148 F. & A.M., a member of Poplar Corner Baptist Church and he spent his life as a car dealer. He was general manager of Bob Scofield Ford in Arab, Ala., and a general manager of Bob Scofield Chrysler, Jeep Dealership in Decatur, Ala.

John W. Herman age 59, passed away Sunday, February 3, 2013, at his home.
Funeral services are Tuesday, February 12, 2013, at 1 p.m. from Pleasant Grove Pools M.B. Church with the Rev. James Richardson officiating. Burial will follow in Pools Memorial Gardens.
Visitation is Monday, February 11, 2013, from 3 – 6 p.m. at Carter’s Mortuary Services Chapel.
