Matt J. Lautar

Matthew J. Lautar passed away at home June 2, 2014, in Cordova, Tenn. He was born March 1, 1941 in Barberton, OH.
He graduated from West Point MS High School in 1959. He attended Millsap’s College and was a member of the football team and Kappa Sigma Fraternity. He transferred to the University of Mississippi in 1961. After graduating from Ole Miss, he joined Consolidated Packaging in Houston, MS before moving to Little Rock ,AR in 1966 while serving in Air Force National Guard.

Dr. William “Pete” Harold Edwards Jr. DVM, passed away Sunday June 1, 2014, at North Mississippi Medical Center of West Point at the age of 69.
He was born July 13, 1944, to the late Mary Jean Hardin and William Harold Edwards Sr. He was the owner of West Point Animal Clinic for many years. He was a member of First Baptist Church of West Point where he served as a deacon. He served on the board for Oak Hill Academy and Clay County Medical Center. He was past president for MS State Veterinarian Assoc.

Lounette Buchanan Collins, age 90, passed away Wednesday, May 28, 2014, at Baptist Memorial Hospital – Columbus.
Funeral services are noon Saturday, May 31, 2014, at Pleasant Plain M.B. Church in Prairie with Rev. Willie K. Orr officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The body will lie in state from 11 a.m. until service time.
Carter Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Earnie Morton, age 91, passed away Sunday, May 18, 2014, at North Mississippi Medical Center in West Point.
Funeral services are 11 a.m. Saturday, May 24, at Mt. Hermon M.B. Church with Rev. Tim Brinkley officiating. Burial will follow in Greenwood Cemetery.
Visitation is 3 – 6 p.m. today, Friday, May 23, 2014, at Carter’s Mortuary Services Chapel.
Carter’s Mortuary Services is in charge of arrangements.

Mattie Pearl Deans Davis, age 90, of West Point, passed away from this earthly life Wednesday, May 14, 2014, at 8:30 a.m. her hour of departure.; she was touched by angels to begin her journey.
Sister Mattie Pearl Deanes Davis was born Jan. 19 1924, in Palo Alto, to the late Mommodore Deans and Margerie Shannon. She was affectionately known as “Pap,” “Gertrude,” “Big Momma,” “Mrs. Davis,” “Auntie” and “Mama.”

Henry Curtis Townsend, age 73 , passed away Saturday, May 17, 2014, in his home following an extended illness.
He was the fourth of eight children born to the union of the late Albert and Odessa Bell Townsend March 17, 1941.
He is preceded in death by his eldest sister, Mildred Townsend Lowery; three brothers – in – law: Shirley Wardell Lowery, Alonzo P. Jackson, and John Mason (Big Joe.)

Aline McFarland Cunningham, 87, died Monday, May 19, 2014, at North Mississippi Medical Center Hospice in Tupelo.
She was formally of Houston. She was born April 25, 1927. in Orange County, Texas, to Jay Hugh Davis Mcfarland and May Rye McFarland. She was a home maker. She was a member of First Baptist Church, Houston Busy Bee’s Club, and also a member of The Blue Ladies at Trace Regional Hospital.

Sarah Delayne (Laney) Morgan, 61, passed away Sunday, May 11, 2014, at Louisville Health Care in Louisville.
She was an Administrative Assistant for more than 32 years in the Agronomy Department at Mississippi State University and a member of Adaton Baptist Church. She was a devoted mother, aunt, sister and friend. She enjoyed camping, skiing, gardening and spending time with her family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents: Grady Wayne Jones and Mary Nell Fulgham Jones; and sister, Beth Jones Irby.
