Gerald N. Moore age 79, passed away Thursday, March 14, 2013, at Dugan Memorial Home, in West Point.
He was born September 27, 1934, in Valley Station, Ky., to the late Lillian Vaughn and Walter Moore.
He was at Retired U. S. Marine Master Gunnery Sargeant for 24 ½ years. He attended Montpelier Baptist Church. After retirement he worked in civil service for the U. S. Navy. A Veteran of U. S. Marines having served during Korea and Vietnam. Gerald N. Moore married Mary Powell Moore October 10, 1958, in Buford-Parris Island, S.C.
John Michael “Foots” Vance age 66, passed away Friday, March 15, 2013, at his home, in Pheba.
He was born December 30, 1946, in Houston, to Anna Lloyd Fant Morgan and Lt. Col John Gurney Vance.

Ella Mae Washington age 84, passed away Tuesday, March 5, 2013, at Oktibbeha County Hospital in Starkville.
Funeral services are Saturday, March 16, 2013, at 11 a.m. from First Baptist Pheba Church with the Rev. Ronnie Smith officiating. Burial will follow in First Baptist Pheba Church Cemetery.
Visitation is today, Friday, March 15, 2013, from 3 – 6 p.m. at Carter’s Mortuary Services Chapel.

March 13th
Nathaniel Neely age 94, passed away Sunday, March 10, 2013, at Community Hospice, Inc. of Verona.
Funeral services are Saturday, March 16, 2013. at noon from Mt. Zion M.B. Church in Van Vleet. Burial will follow in Ross Hill Cemetery.
The body will lie at the church from 11 a.m. until service time for viewing.

Robert E. (Bob Valentine, 73, died peacefully on Tuesday, March 12, 2013, at North Mississippi Medical Center - West Point. Funeral services are Saturday, March 16, 2013 at 2:00 p.m. from the Chapel of Calvert Funeral Home with visitation being from 12:30 p.m. until service time. Burial will follow at Pleasant Grove United Methodist Cemetery in Una.

A memorial service for Verna Lou Ellis Vickers will be conducted Friday, March 15, 2013, at 2 p.m. from Calvert Funeral Home Chapel in West Point.
Visitation is scheduled for Thursday, March 14, 2013, from 5 - 7 p.m. and Friday at 1 p.m. Calvert Funeral Home of West Point is in charge of arrangements.
Born August 27, 1922, Mrs. Vickers died in Jackson, March 12, 2013.
She was a life-long resident of West Point and Clay County until 2006, when she moved to Madison, to be near her son and his family.
Clarice Ila Trull Boykin age 93, passed away Tuesday, March 12, 2013.
Ila Boykin lived at the North Mississippi Health Services Long Term Care in Eupora.
She was born June 20, 1919, in Clay County. Ila Boykin was a member of Mathiston First Baptist Church and an Eastern Star. She was an avid gardener and loved sharing her bounty with her friends and relatives. Her greatest accomplishment in life was her family, whom she held close to her heart. She will be forever known as the most beautiful, caring and giving person God could create. To know Ila Boykin, was an absolute true blessing.
Earceal Mitchell age 79, passed away Thursday, March 7, 2013, at Dugan Memorial Home in West Point.
Funeral services are Wednesday, March 13, 2013, at 11 a.m. from St. Paul United Methodist Church with Pastor Maggie Little officiating. Burial will follow in North Union Cemetery.
Visitation is today, Tuesday, March 12, 2013, from 3 – 6 p.m. at Carter’s Mortuary Services Chapel.

Anne Franklin Washington, 77, passed away, on Thursday, March 7, 2013 at OCH Regional Medical
Center, in Starkville, Miss.
Anne Franklin Washington was born August 12, 1935 in Cedar Bluff, Mississippi to the late Sarah Louise Anthony and John Luther Franklin. Mrs. Washington was a retired educator teaching 2nd grade at West Side School and South Side School for 32 years.
Anne Franklin Washington was a member of Pheba Baptist Church. Anne Franklin Washington married Robert Patrick Washington March 19, 1955, who preceded her in death on November 4, 2002.

Funeral services for Pauline Drane, who passed away Thursday, February 28, 2013, were Saturday, March 2, 2013, at First United Methodist Church with the Rev. Jeff Shannon officiating. Serving as pallbearers were Robbie Robinson, Ralph Weems, Danny Rainey, Phil McClellan, Bubba Atkins, Hamilton Dickey and Jim Helveston.
