John W. âBillâ Vest, 93, passed away, Tuesday, Feb. 4, 2014, at the State Veterans Home in Kosciusko.
John W. âBillâ Vest was born in Stevenson, Ala., to the late Ella Mae Hart and James Horton Vest Sr. He was a farmer and former service station owner and was a member of the Baptist faith. Bill was a veteran of the U. S. Army having served during WW II. He was awarded the Silver Star and was a Purple Heart recipient. John William Vest married Mildred Lucille Vaughn Vest on March 13, 1948. She preceded him in death Nov. 25, 1998.
Marian E. Bramlett, 82, passed away, Sunday, Feb. 2, 2014, at West Point Community Living Center.
Marian E. Bramlett was born Sept. 11, 1932, in Stewart, to the late Tessie Murphy and Frank Velcek. She was a homemaker and of the Baptist faith. She married Prentiss Eugene Bramlett, Sr. Dec. 24, 1955, West Point, he preceded her in death Dec. 29, 2013.
Funeral services are Saturday, Feb. 8, 2014, 10 a.m. at Calvert Funeral Home Chapel with the Dr. James Towery officiating. Burial will follow in Greenwood Cemetery. Calvert Funeral Home of West Point is in charge of arrangements.
Olivia J. White Bernard of Pheba, passed away Tuesday, Feb. 4, 2014, at NMMC in West Point, at the age of 83. Mrs. Bernard was born Aug. 23, 1930, in Clay County to the late James Oliver Johnson and Myrtis Norris Wooten. She worked as an inspector for Monty Glove Factory for many years and was a member of Pheba Baptist Church. Mrs. Bernard a member of the Clay County Home Demonstration Club, on the board of Pheba Volunteer Fire Department, the WMU at Pheba Baptist Church and a member of the DAR.

Funeral services are Friday, Feb. 7, 2014, at 2 p.m. at Calvert Funeral Home Chapel. Visitation is today, Thursday, Feb. 6, 2014, from 5 - 8 p.m. Burial will follow in Greenwood Cemetery.

Olivia J. White Bernard passed away Tuesday, Feb. 4, 2014, at NMMC in West Point at the age of 83.

Vickie Carol Weaver, 58, passed away Feb. 1, 2014, at Darlington Oaks Community Hospice in Verona.
Mrs. Vickie was born Dec. 10, 1955, in Houston, the daughter of the late James Davis and Christine Garrett Doss. She was a member of The Church of Christ. She was the former Owner and Operator of Foodland CafĂ©. She married David Lamar Weaver July 2, 1987, in West Point.
Funeral services are Wednesday, Feb. 5, 2014, at 10 a.m. from Calvert Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Ben Yarber officiating. Burial will follow in Memorial Garden Cemetery in West Point.
Eva Bell Westbrook age 98, passed away Wednesday, Jan. 29, 2014, at North Mississippi Medical Center in West Point.
Funeral services are today, Wednesday, Feb. 5, 2014, at noon from Strong Hill M.B. Church with Rev. Dwight Powell officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

Mickey Newman Moseley, 90, passed away, Saturday, Feb. 1, 2014, at Dugan Memorial Home, in West Point.
Mickey was born Oct. 15, 1923, in Utica, to the late Ruby Pearl Hennington and George Dewey Newman Sr. Mickey was a graduate of Blue Mountain College. She taught High School English at Montpelier High School for 1 year, then worked 29 years with Clay County Welfare Department in Human Resources. Mrs. Moseley was a member of First Christian Church of West Point. She married Bennie Dexter Moseley in 1945, at Montpelier, he preceded her in death Jan. 3, 1981.
Maj. (Ret.) James Benton Griffith (Jim) passed away Monday, Jan. 20, 2014, at his home in Miramar Beach, Fla.
He was born at Cedar Bluff, June 3, 1936, to the late Edna Ellis Griffith and the late James Benton Griffith Sr. He graduated from West Point High School in 1954, and joined the U.S. Air Force in 1954. He was a Vietnam veteran, retiring in 1974. Following his retirement, he joined the Civil Service for the U.S. Army at the Redstone Arsenal in Huntsville, Ala., serving from 1975 â 1996.
Jim was married to the late Jane K. Griffith, England, for 49 years.
Marian E. Bramlett, age 82 of West Point, passed away Sunday, Feb. 2, 2014, at West Point Community Living Center.
Funeral services are 10 a.m. Saturday, February 8, 2014, from Calvert Funeral Home with interment to follow in Greenwood Cemetery in West Point.
Visitation is Friday, Feb. 7, 2014, from 5 â 8 p.m.. at Calvert Funeral Home. Complete arrangements will be announced later by Calvert Funeral Home.
