Richard Glen McBrayer

Richard Glen McBrayer, 78, of West Point passed away Friday October 3, 2014 at NMMC-West Point. He was born April 25, 1936 in Kemper County to the late Escar Eugene and Nannie Eaves McBrayer. He worked for Southern Natural Gas for 37 years. He was a member and a Deacon of Calvary Baptist Church where he taught Sunday School for 42 years. He was a Mason, Past Master of Lodge 159, Shriner at Hamasa Temple and owner of McBrayer Quick Lube and Captian D’s in West Point.

James Bannerman 'J.B.' Richter-Addo

James Bannerman “J.B.” Richter-Addo, passed away Monday, Sept. 1, 2014 in Accra, Ghana, West Africa. He was 89 years old.
James Bannerman “J.B.” Richter - Addo was born August 4, 1925, Accra, Ghana, West Africa. He is the father of Anna Jones of West Point.
According to customs and traditions he will be buried Oct. 17, 2014, in Accra, Ghana, West Africa. He leaves to mourn him, a wife; nine children, 15 grandchildren and four great - grandchildren. Anna and Bennie Jones will be attending the funeral.

Betty Long Early

Betty Long Early, age 87, of West Point passed away Wednesday Oct. 1, 2014, at NMMC - West Point after a recent illness.
She was born Dec. 2, 1926, in Tupelo, the only daughter of Huey and Lela Martin Long. She graduated from the University of Mississippi in 1947 with a bachelor’s degree in Education. She married John Richard Early in 1951. He preceded her in death in 2008.

Funeral services for Larry Bost are Tuesday, Oct. 7, 2014, at 10:30 a.m. at Welch Funeral Home.
Visitation is from 9:30 - 10:30 service time at Welch Funeral Home.
Complete funeral arrangements are not available at this time and will be announced at a later date by Welch Funeral Home of Starkville.

Opal Blaylock Turnipseed

Opal Blaylock Turnipseed, age 91, passed away Sunday, Sept. 28, 2014, at her residence in Starkville.
She was a retired office clerk in the Chancery Clerk’s office and a member of First Baptist Church in Starkville.
She was preceded in death by her parents: Luther Blaylock and Betty Cox Blaylock; husband, Marvin Doyle Turnipseed; and son, Mike Turnipseed.
She is survived by her son Marvin Turnipseed (Jane) of West Point; grandchild, Brock Turnipseed (Erica); and great grandchildren: Dalton and Riley Turnipseed.

D’Metrius Martrez Daniels, age 25, passed away Wednesday, Sept. 17, 2014.
Funeral services are noon, Thursday, Sept. 25, 2014, at Northside Christian Church, with Rev. Orlando Richmond Sr. officiating. Burial will follow in Pheba Community Cemetery.
Visitation is from 3 – 6 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 24, 2014, at Carter’s Mortuary Services Chapel.
Carter’s Mortuary Services is in charge of arrangements.

John Guido, age 86, passed away Wednesday, Sept. 17, 2014, at Care Center of Aberdeen.
Funeral services are 1 p.m. Monday, Sept. 22, 2014, at Union Baptist M.B. Church in Prairie, with Rev. Mike Wilson officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
Visitation is 2 – 4 p.m. today, Sunday, Sept. 21, 2014, at Carter’s Mortuary Services Chapel.
Carter’s Mortuary Services is in charge of arrangements.

Robert Hunt Hannah

Robert Hunt Hannah, age 82, passed away Tuesday, Sept. 16, 2014, at North Mississippi Medical Center in West Point. Mr. Robert was born July 19, 1932, in Tupelo the son of the late Roscoe Sigmond and Mary Madgelene Ramsey Hannah. He was a member of Lone Oak Baptist Church. He was a self-employed truck driver. He was an avid hunter and fisherman. He was also a motorcycle enthusiast that enjoyed riding and admiring other Harley Davidson and Indian motorcycles. He married Dorothy Harris Hannah April 1, 1960, in West Point.

Jeff McCarter, age 88, passed away Saturday, Sept. 13, 2014, at his home in Sturgis.
Funeral services are 1 p.m. at Union Chapel Church in Crawford. The body will lie in state from noon until service time. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
