Mildred Conlee Magers, 94, died Monday, June 23, 2014, at Sanctuary Hospice House following an extended illness. She was born Oct. 31, 1919, in Prentiss County to Gordon Emmitt Conlee and Gladys Hendrix Conlee. She married Charlie Raymond Magers Dec. 20, 1934, and worked for 33 years at Reedâs Manufacturing retiring as a supervisor. Upon retiring she worked at Harrisburg Baptist Church in the daycare. She was an extraordinary mother who loved cooking and caring for her family. She loved her children, grandchildren and great - grandchildren. Mildred was a member of Harrisburg Baptist Church.
Bobby Dean Strong Sr., age 69, passed away Friday, June 14, 2014, at North Mississippi Medical Center of Tupelo.
Funeral services are 2 p.m. Friday, June 20, 2014, at Third Mt. Olive M.B. Church with Rev. Bobby Bowen officiating. Burial will follow in Greenwood Cemetery.
Richard Noel âRichieâ Rape, age 47, passed away Monday, June 16, 2014, at Sanctuary Hospice House in Tupelo. Richie was born Sept. 30, 1966, in West Point. the son of Richard Rape and the late Ida Bess Langford Rape. He worked as a truck driver and heavy equipment operator for Clay County. He also worked at Artex in the Dye Department. He was a member of Lone Oak Baptist Church. Richie loved the outdoors, especially hunting and fishing. He was an avid Nascar Fan, and he especially loved the Earnhardts. He married Brenda Carol Bateman Rape July 16, 1988, in West Point.
Robert Lee Johnson Sr., age 77, passed away Saturday, June 7, 2014, in West Point.
Funeral services are 11 a.m. Saturday, June 14, 2014, at House of Life Freedom Ministry in Starkville, with Rev. Otha Rockett officiating. Burial will follow in St. John Baptist Church Cemetery in Columbus.
Visitation is 3 â 6 p.m. today, Friday, June 13, 2014, at Carterâs Mortuary Services Chapel.

Linda Pearson Cutler, age 65, passed away Thursday, June 12, 2014, at her home in Commerce, Mich. after an extended illness.
She is survived by her daughter, Piper Cutler of Commerce, Mich.; son, Chase Cutler (Judy) of Las Vegas, N.V.; dear friend and ex-husband Lenny Cutler of Las Vegas, N.V. ; brother, George Pearson (Beulah) of West Point; sisters, Patsy Irwin of Austin, Texas, Clara McInnis (Glenn) of Meridian; grandson, Tyler and several nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Herbert and Christine Pearson and twin sister Sandra.
Taylor Dragoo, age 15, passed away Saturday, June 7, 2014, at the University of Mississippi Medical Center in Jackson. Taylor was born April 19, 1999, in West Point to Sherry Reannay Jenkins and Steven Alfred Dragoo. Taylor was a member of First Christian Church, but also attended the youth groups of First Baptist Church, Calvary Baptist Church, and First Methodist Church. Taylor was an avid outdoorsman, who loved to hunt, fish, kayak, and ride four-wheelers. Taylor loved all sports, but especially loved football and running track. Taylor was a âSportscenterâ enthusiast.
Charles Edward Cartee, age 75, passed away Sunday, June 8, 2014, at North Mississippi Medical Center in West Point. Mr. Charles was born Dec. 10, 1938, in Clay County, the son of the late Spurgeon Cartee and Dovie Eaton Cartee Felder. He was a truck driver for United Produce and Bigbee Transportation. He was a Baptist. He married Opal Oline Payne June 6, 1955. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by daughter, Charlene Comer and by a son, Larry Payne.
Tonya Cade McBeth passed away on Sunday, June 1, 2014, in Memphis at the age of 40. She was born on Nov. 14, 1973, to Sherwin Hollis and William Cade. She was a member of Whitten Baptist Church in Memphis. She was a retired Certified Financial Planner.
Services will be 1 p.m. Saturday, June 7, 2014, at Robinson Funeral Home with Rev. Jeff Shipley officiating. Burial will follow in Moore Cemetery in Brooksville. Visitation will be Friday, June 6, 2014, from 5-8 p.m. and Saturday 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Robinson Funeral Home.
Matthew J. Lautar passed away at home June 2, 2014, in Cordova, Tenn. He was born March 1, 1941 in Barberton, OH.
He graduated from West Point MS High School in 1959. He attended Millsapâs College and was a member of the football team and Kappa Sigma Fraternity. He transferred to the University of Mississippi in 1961. After graduating from Ole Miss, he joined Consolidated Packaging in Houston, MS before moving to Little Rock ,AR in 1966 while serving in Air Force National Guard.
Dr. William âPeteâ Harold Edwards Jr. DVM, passed away Sunday June 1, 2014, at North Mississippi Medical Center of West Point at the age of 69.
He was born July 13, 1944, to the late Mary Jean Hardin and William Harold Edwards Sr. He was the owner of West Point Animal Clinic for many years. He was a member of First Baptist Church of West Point where he served as a deacon. He served on the board for Oak Hill Academy and Clay County Medical Center. He was past president for MS State Veterinarian Assoc.
