The Upper Elementary of Oak Hill Academy were well represented in the Mississippi Association of Independent Schools District Art Competition. Fourth grader Sidney Pierce took first place in Mixed Media, Brady Boyd took second place in Single Drawing Media and Julia Rea East won second place in Single Drawing Media. Fifth grade Dalton Magers won second place in Mixed Media. First place winner Sidney Pierce will advance to the Overall State Art Competition in Jackson.
February 16th
Former Mayor and Chairman of the Golden Triangle Regional Solid Waste Management Authority, Kenny Dill, spoke to the Horseshoe Robertson Chapter of the NSDAR during their monthly meeting at the Bryan Public Library Wednesday.
“You really never think about making money from garbage, but the Golden Triangle Regional Solid Waste Management Authority has been doing just that since October of 2011,” explained Dill. “We take garbage and collect the methane gas that is produced and sell it to TVA. They convert the gas to make clean, green electricity.”
I have often wondered who decided that kids who graduate high school at 17 or 18 years old have enough sense to make decisions that impact the rest of their lives. I know when I was young, I was stupid. Young and stupid, two words that are synonymous. Case in point, ask a kid in high school what they want to study in college.
“I don’t know.”
“You’re going to have to major in something.”
“I don’t know what I want to do. I don’t want to have to take a bunch of math.”
“You have to have math.”

the majority do not.) Thus, rather than mandating fluoride treatment
for the whole population, western Europe allows individuals the right
to choose, or refuse, fluoride.

There will be a very important community training seminar in Starkville one week from today.
Attendance from West Point’s community leaders could lead to a significant impact on poverty and the town’s economy.
“Bridges out of Poverty” is an organization that has taught communities that benefits and effectiveness of empowering those in poverty rather than just writing checks to different charities.
Lynn Phillips-Gaines spoke to the West Point Rotary Club last week about the “Bridges” program and the impact it has had on Starkville.
Friends of the Library held their fourth Valentine Bake Sale at the Bryan Public Library Thursday. Goodies galore, cakes pies, cookies, brownies and all sorts of sweet treats were for sale.
