Tracy Ridings named WPHS North Campus Teacher of the Year

March 19, 2013

Tracy Ridings has the unenviable job of teaching English I and Honors English to ninth grade students. This is why she was named WPHS North Campus Teacher of the Year. She introduces them to the plays of William Shakespeare with “Romeo and Juliet” and will be taking them back in time to the Holocaust by reading “The Boy in the Striped Pajamas” by John Boyne. She has been in education for 17 years, 13 of which have been at West Point High School. Photo by Donna Summerall

Before and after

March 18, 2013

Last week, the city board of selectmen and other officials pledged support to repair and beautify the Sam Wilhite Transportation museum on Depot Drive. All agreed the structure had been neglected since it was relegated to “appointment only” hours in 2010. Above, the building is already seeing a drastically improved look after the city trimmed the bushes surrounding the museum. The metal sign above was almost completely obstructed by shrubbery last week. Photo by Bryan Davis

We live in a world today that is filled with hatred and deceit. We also live during times when the Christian community is alive, well and quite active in missionary and community service. But there are those who say they are Christians and love all of humanity, but their lack of enthusiasm and charity exhibits everything but love.
