June 17, 2013

The West Point Farmers’ Market is building momentum. Featuring the best in fresh produce, tea, jams and other items, the Thursday event is getting more popular with Clay County citizens by the week. Need a good summer read? Bobby Cole delivers

June 13, 2013

I’d love to write a full-length, highly entertaining book review featuring a new Mississippi writer – at least he’s new to me. But at this very moment the only thing I can think about is going to bed so I can continue reading Bobby Cole’s latest book. It’s currently 5:20 p.m. by the way, and my bedtime has become embarrassingly early.

June 11, 2013

While many in the media continue to ask the obvious questions about Edward Snowden, the contractor who leaked information about the National Security Agency spying on Americans, there is one question that bothers me.

Summerall: WWMS

June 10, 2013

In the 90’s there were bracelets and tee shirts with the WWJD? Logo. It asked what would Jesus do? Well, we all know what Jesus would do. It would have been much more calm and kind than anything any of us would do.

Floyd fields questions at Luncheon With Books

June 6, 2013

John Floyd paid his fourth visit to the Bryan Public Library at noon Thursday. Most authors read a few pages from their newest novel or short story collection and continue with teasers about their next project. Floyd’s time during Luncheon With Books wasn’t spent talking about “Deception” or his other books, he connected with his audience in a different way. He opened up the floor for questions.

Inky clowns around the library

June 5, 2013

Ladies and gentlemen and children of all ages squeezed into the Esther Pippen Room of the Bryan Public Library to spend the afternoon with Inky the Clown. Inky kept everyone oooing and ahhing (mainly because he had everyone say it on cue) during the opening act of the Summer Reading Program; Dig into Reading! Inky is a favorite of the library with magic, jokes, juggling, balloon animals and good clean fun for everyone.
