Handling dozens and dozens of misdemeanor court cases isn't at all easy, especially for the West Point Municipal Court staff who often has to stay past 5 p.m. on Tuesday when cases are heard, working well into the evening hours on numerous cases.

Regionalism is the buzzword in the Golden Triangle today.
At their board meeting today, the Columbus Lowndes Development LINK (LINK) board members took the last vote needed to establish a formal affiliation between their organization and the West Point Clay County Community Growth Alliance (Growth Alliance).
It is a move that has been praised by many.

It's not over, according to Robbie Norton, who was convicted in November of 2011 of using negligence and striking Starkville resident Jan Morgan while Morgan was cycling with her friend one morning on Highway 50 West in Clay County.
Norton came before Clay County Justice Court Judge Joe Taggart on Nov. 17 and though she gave no remarks on whether or not she was negligent when Morgan was hit by Norton's car that day, she did listen to testimonies of witnesses and the testimony of Morgan who underwent extensive hospital treatment for the injuries she sustained.

Christmas Concert
The West Point Music Coterie will have their annual Christmas Concert at West End Baptist Church at 7 p.m. The title of the performance is “Let Christmas Begin.”

Mischievous little eyes are peeping inside homes and vehicles this shopping season, looking to snatch up brand new clothes, shoes, gadgets and gizmos while the owners are oblivious to what's going on. But local law enforcement, who will be on the trail of these prowlers this week and throughout the holiday season, has ways people can keep their goods safe and prevent being victimized by burglaries.
November 16th
The past few years have been extremely tough for Clay County with the stagnant national economy and the loss of many manufacturing jobs. These losses have caused us to suffer with inordinately high unemployment for our county. It's tough times like these that motivate community leaders and elected officials to search for answers and solutions that create jobs for our community. It's been my conviction that if our citizens have jobs many of the social ills we experience will be resolved.

One by one, 16 senior football players made the slow walk across McAllister Field at West Point High School Friday night, with each player being accompanied by his family for Senior Night festivities.
After the 16th player was introduced just prior to West Point’s season finale, he kissed his mother, turned, and found the rest of his senior teammates. That’s when the entire group gathered together and sprinted to the center of the field to be with the 17th senior, Tyler Wallace.

Paige Dendy Lamkin, with 73 percent of the vote, is the new Clay County Tax Assessor. All three supervisors up for re-election (District 3 RB Davis, D4 Sheldon Deanes and D5 Floyd McKee) are winning easily.

The personhood amendment has been defeated by voters of Miss, but Voter ID looks like it's on its way to passing.
UPDATED: Phil Bryant (R) is the new governor of Mississippi after defeating Democrat Johnny DuPree.
Tate Reeves has won the race to be the next LT. Governor.

October 29th
A three-vehicle crash that occurred just after 8 a.m. on Friday morning claimed two lives, including one West Point man.
David Malone, 63, who was driving a 1997 GMC truck, and Keona Fields, 25, who was driving a 2002 Pontiac Grand Am, were both killed after a head-on collision that occurred just east of the river bridge.
According the officials with the Miss. Highway Patrol, the accident occurred just east of the Tenn-Tom Waterway bridge, yards away from the Clay County line of the Lowndes County side of the river.
