A Mississippi Senate Bill requesting the consolidation of the West Point School District and the Clay County School District is now being considered by the Mississippi House of Representatives Education Committee.
The Bill, which passed the Senate last Friday, was sent to the House Education Committee this Thursday.

LISLE, Ill., Feb. 20, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- Navistar Defense, LLC, already a key supplier to the Afghan National Army (ANA) and Afghan National Police (ANP), has received an urgent delivery order from the U.S. Army (TACOM LCMC) to retrofit 205 armored cabs onto Navistar Medium Tactical Vehicles (MTV) currently designated for service with the Afghan National Security Forces.
As the March 12 Special Election to fill the empty seat for District 36 approaches, the odds are not with constituents of that district having a vote during the current legislative session.

The Clay County Sheriff Department needs your help in locating a 2007 Polaris 700 4-wheeler stolen from a barn located on Highway 45 North Alt., West Point, MS.
The theft occurred on February 16, 2013 or the early morning hours of February 17, 2013. The 4-wheeler is black and gray in color with a winch on front with the serial number 4XAMH68A17A967061.

Absentee ballots for the upcoming March 12, 2013 Special Election for the District 36 House Seat are available as of 8 a.m. this morning.
Clay County Election Commissioner Wendy Fuller says that ballots are now available to those who are qualified to vote in this election.
The election will be held to fill the seat of the late David Gibbs of Clay County.
There has been no approval of Voter ID by the Justice Department so no ID will be required for this election.
New state-of-the-art automated electric and water meters are well on their way to the homes and businesses of West Point’s water and light customers, whom Water and Light Department officials say will benefit from the change.
Last March the West Point Board of Mayor and Selectmen approved an Energy Performance Contract with the company Siemens to replace the old meters with new digital ones, and the Water and Light Department has now started the process of installing the new meters at many locations around town.
Keeping an eye on valuable park property in Sally Kate Winter Park will soon be as simple as clicking a computer mouse now that installation of cameras in SKW Park is underway this week.
