The Clay County Board of Supervisors meeting, Chancery Clerk Amy Berry updated the board on the county’s delinquent solid waste issue.
The $2,000 delinquent garbage bill the board discussed last week is part of the 24 percent of properties that were traceable, and the property owner responsible for this fee is also facing a lien.
West Point's Community Counseling Services is offering its clients, as well as alcohol and drug rehabilitation clients, an opportunity to step into today's job market through its Supported Employment Program.

With no opposition heard, the Clay County Board of Supervisors moved forward Monday with the next phase of its economic development project through which the county hopes hundreds of jobs will land in Clay County.
Last month the board heard from Gordon Flowers, Chairman of the Golden Triangle Development LINK, who requested that the board ready themselves to issue bonds in the event that a major industry decided to locate to Clay County.

Hosted by the West Point/Clay County Arts Council, Friday Night Jams will start this Friday night, March 8th. The jam session will be from 7-9:30pm at the Parks and Recreation Building in Marshall Park.
Friday Night Jams are open to everyone, but keep in mind this is an informal playing event with no preset program or tune list. And the sessions will be family-friendly events, where no smoking or alcohol is allowed, but people are welcome to bring refreshments to share.
Wondering who’s gotten booked into the Clay County Jail lately?
Well, soon, folks won’t have to wonder because starting this June the public will be able to look online to see who’s been booked in and out of jail and see what they’re charged with.

A mighty Spring Storm will hit downtown West Point—a “perfect” storm of Art, that is! Creativity will fill the air as more than 50 fine artists, crafts men and women display their art in the first annual Historic Downtown Art Walk, Saturday, April 13th.
The staff of the Hampton Inn and Suites of West Point truly have something to be proud about, as they were notified just last week that they will soon be the recipients of the Hilton Circle of Excellence Award.
When a $10 a month garbage bill reaches a whopping $2,000 it’s probably safe to say there’s a problem.
And that particular problem was discussed Thursday by the Clay County Board of Supervisors and Clay County Tax Assessor/Collector Paige Lamkin, who requested further action be taken to collect delinquent garbage fees.
