‘Buddy Bench’ to help foster CH friendships

A colorful new bench has been installed at Church Hill Elementary in an effort to combat loneliness among the students and foster friendships.
Church Hill Guidance Counselor Leslie Scott first read about the Buddy Bench, an idea created by a Pennsylvania second-grader, on social media and thought it would be a perfect addition to Church Hill.
“Two of the main things I teach are respect and empathy, and the Buddy Bench perfectly ties into both,” Scott said.

Man arrested in connection with shooting

West Point police have made an arrest in connection to an alleged shooting incident March 24 in the Dollar General parking lot on Highway 45 North Alternate in West Point.
According to a statement issued by the West Point Police Department, officers were dispatched to the Dollar General last week after a dispute inside the store reportedly resulted in shots fired. Store surveillance footage showed group of unidentified men — some investigators believe to be juveniles — gathered in the parking area, where one allegedly opened fire on an unoccupied vehicle.
