COMMUNITY ALERT: West Point schools to dismiss early for weather

Local schools will again dismiss early for severe weather concerns. All West Point School District schools will dismiss students at 12:15 p.m. Tuesday, April 29.
Oak Hill Elementary will dismiss students at noon. Oak Hill High School will dismiss at 12:15 p.m.
Hebron Christian School will dismiss classes at 12:30 p.m.

MSU Extension Services celebrate 100 years

The Mississippi State Extension Service is celebrating 100 years providing service to the people of Mississippi in May.
Clay County Extension Service Director B.J. McClenton said the extension office will be setting up displays in the county to celebrate the centennial.

Weekend wreck injures two

A two-car collision occurred Friday night in Clay County, leaving two West Point residents seriously injured.
Mississippi Highway Patrol Public Information Officer Sgt. Criss Turnipseed said the accident happened about 10:45 p.m. Friday on Highway 45 Alt. at the Tibbee bridge.
According to Turnipseed, 48-year-old Louis Chandler, of Pontotoc, was driving a 2005 silver Ford F-150 truck and traveling north in the southbound lane of Hwy 45.
Chandler collided with 28-year-old Joana Hardwick, of West Point, who was driving a 2006 cream-colored Chrysler.
