EMCC recognizes local industry at luncheon

East Mississippi Community College hosted its 25th annual Industry Appreciation Luncheon Thursday at EMMC’s Golden Triangle Campus in Mayhew.
The luncheon was to honor business and industry partners from the Golden Triangle and East Mississippi region. Mississippi Lt. Gov. Tate Reeves was the keynote speaker for the event.
Reeves said he talks to residents in other parts of Mississippi who don’t fully grasp why so many companies in the last 10 years have chosen to locate in the Golden Triangle.

Firefighters undergo Hazmat training

The Clay County Local Emergency Planning Committee authorized a study in April to examine the transport of hazardous materials throughout the county.
The study was funded by the Mississippi Emergency Management Agency and examined each major road, waterway, railroad and pipeline and found that Clay County has significant exposure to hazardous materials flow, with more than 500 trucks traveling through the county each day on average.

Rotary honors Harrell
