Friends of BPL welcome local author to LWB

Columbus author Deborah Johnson is bringing her latest novel to the Luncheon with Books at noon, April 24 at the Bryan Public Library in West Point.
In 1946, a young female attorney from New York City attempts the impossible: attaining justice for a black man in the Deep South. Johnson takes her readers back in time to witness Mississippi in the wake of World War II.

The West Point Clay County Arts Council (WPCCAC) has been a particularly busy group in recent weeks, as it prepares for the inaugural Art Walk.

Wreck closes Soco pumps

A man crashed his car into a gas pump Sunday morning at the Soco Chevron Truck Stop in West Point.
West Point Police Department Assistant Chief Stanley McGee said the WPPD is withholding the man’s identity pending investigation.
McGee said the man was traveling south on U.S. Highway 45 in a Mercury Grand Marquis coming in to West Point.
“The man said he saw the sign that said ‘Welcome to West Point’ and the next thing he remembered was someone pulling him out of the car,” McGee said.
