Shared GTR Airport seat forthcoming

Another step has been made in the ongoing effort on behalf of West Point and Clay County to share a seat on the Golden Triangle Regional Airport (GTRA) Board of Directors.
Mike Hainsey, GTRA executive director, said all five entities on the board — West Point, Starkville, Columbus, Lowndes and Oktibbeha counties — are required to adopt a resolution of intention to approve the split chair. Oktibbeha, Hainsey said, adopted its resolution of intention Monday. Lowndes County adopted its resolution of intention Friday.

December revenues see increase

The numbers for December are in, and they’re saying good things. According to the city’s most recent tax revenue report, West Point’s sales tax revenue jumped to $209,310.64 compared to last year’s sales tax total of $204,129.48 for a $5,181.16 (2 percent) increase.
West Point Mayor Robbie Robinson said although he was hopeful for a larger increase, he was still satisfied with the numbers.
