Two West Point men were arrested Wednesday evening after a traffic stop conducted by a West Point Police Department (WPPD) patrol officer on Broad Street turned into a drug arrest.
According to a police report provided by the WPPD, a vehicle with a â€śblown headlightâ€ť was spotted driving north on Broad Street by a WPPD patrol unit. The officer turned on the patrol carâ€™s emergency lights and proceeded to conduct a routine traffic stop.

Come March 1, West Point local Shay King will be an official member of the West Point School Districtâ€™s Board of Trustees.
West Point Ward 5 Selectman Gary Dedeaux made the motion to appoint King as a school board member Tuesday during the Board of Selectmenâ€™s regularly scheduled meeting. However, Dedeauxâ€™s motion followed a motion by Ward 1 Selectman Linda Hannah, who said she would like to reappoint current WPSD Board Member Diane Jack. Hannahâ€™s motion, unlike Dedeauxâ€™s, did not receive a second.

West Point resident Jimmy Putt, 26, was recently arrested in connection with a burglary of a dwelling located on Old White Road South.
According to West Point Police Chief Tim Brinkley, at about 8 p.m. Feb. 10, officers were dispatched to Old White Road South regarding a possible breaking and entering in progress.
Per a police report provided by the West Point Police Department, Putt allegedly gained entry into the residence â€śby forcible means,â€ť but later fled into a wooded area a short distance from the residence.
